Mary Sinclair lives with her single mother, Bethany Sinclair, in East London; her father died in a car accident. Although Mary was an orphan now, she was not that sad, as her father was always abusive towards his family and restricted both of them; they never had a family picnic or even a nice family dinner at home. Mary always wanted to go to the amusement park on her birthdays, but never got the chance to go there as a family on her special days, not even once. She always wanted a life like the one that her friends and fellows disregarded. The lifestyle that screams what an actual family looks like. But she never came to have that kind of ordinary family life, although she could have whatever she wanted, as her father was the mayor of California before dying in an accident.
Therefore, she always suppressed her emotions, gave all to her studies, and was always as cold as ice. She thought that by doing all this, she would not have to answer any unnecessary concerns of people around her who were just curious about her life for no reason. After the passing of her husband, Bethany opened a beautiful flower shop; she is now going to fulfill her long-buried dream, as her husband never let her pursue her ambition. Mary has now graduated from high school and decided to join a medical school. As she was a total nerd, she got a Fulbright scholarship and got right to the top of the merit lists of every medical school she applied to. Some institutions that she didn’t even enroll in offered her a scholarship and other benefits like free dormitory compensation. She chose Doldem Public Hospital and Medical College in Seoul, South Korea. This was the start of a new chapter of her life. She was packing her luggage.
MARY’S POV
"Mom!" Mary shouted while packing her clothes...
"Yes, love...!!!“(her mother replied)
"Mom, have you seen my new top, which I bought from Gucci last week? I needed to pack it, but I was unable to find it anywhere." (Mary asked confusedly.)
Bethany, on the other hand, came into her room and, in an instant, handed over her red top, which she had been looking for over an hour.
"Here, take it. Honestly, why do you always make such a mess every time you lose something?" (She scanned the room, which was in complete chaos.)
"Mom, please!!! This is how I work...“(said it with carelessness)
"You are going to travel about 180 degrees on the globe; be more responsible, Mary." (Bethany commented while being so anxious about Mary going far away.)
"Okay, Mom, I will be more vigilant from now on, I promise..." (She was annoyed by her mother’s nagging, but when she saw her mother was already missing her, her expression softened a bit.)
It was 9 a.m., and Bethany was heading towards her flower shop; she was going to make her own today.
"Hey Mary, I’m going to head outside; be careful, honey!!" (closing the front door)
"Ahh! Mom...." (Mary said, sighing sadly... she was already missing her mother.) But again, she bent down to pack... although she was going to study, she was packing like she was going to Mars...
After hours of packing, she was able to pack everything she wanted to take with her to South Korea. Being a K-drama fan, she always wanted to visit South Korea, thinking it would be the same as shown in their dramas, but who thought it would be the opposite?
Despite all the chaos and confusion, Mary was able to pack a total baggage of about 96 kg, and yessss! She is traveling and settling alone, and all those 96 kgs belong to her. After filling all day, she came down at about 5 p.m. Bethany also came home with a lot of groceries as she’s going to make a grand dinner for her daughter. Although it was her first day at the shop and she didn’t even get any customers as she was just settling in, she was happy with all the work she was doing and would be going as it was her lifelong dream.
