Chapter 1
This book is dedicated to the original recipients of kisses and farts.
You know who you are.
Ha ha.
I would like to acknowledge my late father, who instilled in me both common sense and a great sense of humour.
He also gave me a strong work ethic and appreciation of nature and the bounties it supplies.
I miss you every day, Dad.
Thank you to my husband, who has led us on our path to grow on the inside and shrink on the outside. I love you honey.
About the author
Elora Kamen, aka Supernan, is a Canadian graphic designer, writer, wife, mother and grandmother.
With her Early Childhood Education background, her love and understanding of children comes through in this humourous and common sense story encouraging children to go outside where natural rainbows reside.
She embraces life with enthusiasm, and encourages everyone to look up from their screens and out the door.
SUPERNAN SAYS RAINBOWS ARE IN THE SKY
Grandparents are people, just like you.
A little bit bigger and not quite so new!
You have a mom or a dad or two,
Well hey, guess what - they do too!
They are us...a bit wrinkly and old,
mommy’s dad or dad’s mommy, so I’ve been told.
I blow you a kiss when I tuck you to bed.
But one time I pretend-blew a big FART instead!
Grandparents love you with all of their hearts.
They even visit bedtimes with kisses -
and FARTS!
But grandparents are good for more
than a FART,
we also have some tales to impart.
Because we’ve lived life much longer than you
we’ve already found lots of fun things to do!
We’ve also learned some lessons to share
Because we LOVE you - because we care!
The number one lesson I’ll share with you
The top thing I ask you to do.
Is that no matter your colour, shape, or
style of hair,
you will search for mother nature everywhere.
When you’re at school and you walk down
the halls,
You might just see RAINBOWS all over
the walls.
But rainbows are not just on the wall
or the floor,
They are outside after rain when you look out the door!
Rainbows are colourful and beautiful -
just like people are!
’Cause each of us is SPECIAL and unique, by far.
A rainbow is nature’s message of hope and joy,
a loving symbol of acceptance of
EVERY girl and boy!
But to see a rainbow up high in the sky
you have to stop and put down your toys.
It’s lots of fun for EVERYONE,
not just girls and boys.
You should wear shoes and pants and jackets,
and definitely not a frown,
and make sure you’re with a grown up
until YOU are fully grown!
And once you’ve arrived at the great outside,
make sure your eyes are open real wide.
There you will find so much to see
a bird or a flower or maybe a bee.
When you’ve had your fill of fun outside,
had supper and climbed into bed,
I hope you have dreams of rainbows
dancing in your head.
And if you don’t have a Supernan, don’t distress!
Picture the SUPER S in the middle of my dress.
And just like a rainbow and bird and tree,
in your dreams you just might see me!
Smiling and singing and rhyming, to start
and finish by blowing some kisses and farts.
You are SUPER-MAZING no matter your parts.
So run off to bed and blow Supernan some FARTS!
