Chapter 1 - Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining

Stopped the recording and went off. She tried to record over and over but it was of no use new records were as bad as the ones before. After a few desperate puts of cigars, she wanted to start again. Back to the aquarium and puts the headphones. Picks the strings and thumb up for a new start. This is an ordinary day of Abbie’s with frustration and lack of everything she ever wanted. Her mom died when she was 6 and still lives with her dad in an apartment at 44th street. Her dad is a quitter, a loner with no friends at all.

Days pass by and Abbie turns 18. At the senior high school starter day, the school wants to have an entrance, and Abbie is the most eligible to be playing at, and the day would start a new life for her.

When she came to school for preparation and sound check, she met a boy who worked in the crew. Young Scottish boy who just did his job with no attention to the surrounding area. Abbie starts the check but a glance, alive vision took her hand and pulled her to the Scotland. This boy moves her and all she can do is focusing on her performance. She did try very much since she was 4. She played country music, because it is a very deep and so loved passion of hers.

After her mom died, she decided to continue and be an artist like her mother. She wrote and strap them all. Once she played an acoustic, her friend was a viewer of hers. She told her you can record once. “I had a friend downtown with a studio. It is very remarkable one, but guess I could do somethings.” she told Abbie.

After two weeks, Pete made an arrangement in the studio for them. Abbie put herself in the situation of the firsts and tried hard. After 7 sessions of record failure, she lost her temper and cut it off like she always does.

“I need this song Ashley ” said Abbie. “this is for mom. I must complete it. You know, I would do anything, I could give the very hardest of my tries for it. I want it for the annual. I’m so blue about it”.

There would be a great day next week for Abbie. Her mom’s memoir at the church of the town. She wants to play as remembering due to her most passionate of all lifelong joy that exists. She doesn’t know what to do then without this record. After giving her the best shots, she couldn’t record anything, but at the day of remembering there laid a big surprise. Pete arranged the music as a chorus and with collaboration of all choir at the church, they played and sang the music by Abbie’s lead. This changed her overall and put her to do music for a life. At the sound check session, she just looks at that Scottish boy. He is kind of the king of the queen to her time, not for now, not then, for it all. She started the song “Baby Blue Love” and played it along guitar which her mom gave her as gift at age 6 -exact year when it happened, she passed away with a song of innocence:

“I’m on the fire but what can I do,

I’m singing in the choir but I’m lookin’ at you

I’ll be outside pick me up after school baby blue, baby blue

Pour me up a bit of that liquid courage

Lookin so good, like an axle rose

Cuttin’ school listenin’ to the techno music

Will we ever do right? God knows.

Me and Claudeen at the Seven Eleven

Smokin in the back, in our mini skirts

Take us back to class, so we look like heaven

You say I’m so fine that it hurts

I’m on the fire but what can I do,

I’m singing in the choir but I’m lookin’ at you

I’ll be outside pick me up after school

In your thunder black, baby blue

Thunder black, baby blue

Baby blue ”

Song came to an end so came time to open eyes, she just saw one face in front. The Scottish boy standing alone and clapping for the awesome performance for her awesomeness. She doesn’t know what to do just puts herself out of the stage and leaves. She couldn’t stand without him or with him though. She wants to be with him.

He is the realm of happiness to Abbie and she doesn’t want to lose another loved one after her mother. In these years, this is the first time ever, she is happy. Her father is a drunkard after his wife’s death and Abbie had to cut off the relation with him. Now, after a while she could have a man who she can rely on and write for, to live for.

This is the vantage point the one and only that never showed up before. Must follow her heart. But, it is late and Abbie was at the home with all the thoughts and struggles. She couldn’t sleep all night for the performance, for him, for all she ever thought for.

Next day, at the stage when she puts the straps on and stands behind the microphone, trembling invisibly, her eyes look for the Scottish but there is no sign of him. After session is over, she felt frustration and ignorance. Even Ashley her best friend, her encouragement for all these years couldn’t replace the boy.

She thought a lot on way back home. At the moment she and Ashley saw a flashlight behind them. Next to the road a man appeared of the dark. It was him.

Abbie shouted and replied “There he is. The boy I waited to see”. “Why would he follow us? It’s weird. Isn’t it?”.

He says “Hey lassies, Hoo’s it gaun?”.

Girls lost it for a moment and answered: “Th…ank you si…r”.

“I just wanted to ask about an address. I’m looking up for the church. It ma first day around ya know.” Said Scottish. “I should stay someplace and I donno the town.”

Abbie jumped out of the ladder and said “you can stay with us and then blushed”. Ashley looked at her with hesitation and said: “absolutely, you can. Be our guest!”.

Scottish said “thank you lassies. just for the night. I would find another place tomorrow. Don want to be on your back. Thanks anyway”.

They drove to the bar next to Abbie’s place, had a beer and started talking about the now and then and before.

“What’s your name by the way?” asked Abbie.

“Ma name? uhh! Call meh Aiden . It’s been long time people call me this”.

Music played at the background and these three guys made the end of night chit chatting and passing the announcement, Abbie wants the straight line into her own background but she couldn’t.

Aiden asked her: “You did play well at the auction. Fine voice you got’ee”.

“It’s been a long since Ma died, I decided to play music and it is part of me now. Abbie continued; “I want to be on Capitol billboards”.

Aiden was interested in Abbie’s voice and herself at the time. He just couldn’t know what should he do to ask her out. But that night meant a great deal to them both, a vantage point in their life. After a long night staying, they left the bar and drove to Abbie and Ashley’s. Aiden picked the sofa. Girls left him at the hall and went upstairs.

“I cannot believe he is in our house” told Ashley. “Yes he is, but I have no idea if it is a good or not!” Abbie responded.

Girls dressed off and went to bed. Some hours after midnight, Abbie couldn’t sleep, jumped out of bed and started discovering out what is Aiden doing. She was very curious about him. Went downstairs and looked around the hall. Aiden was sleeping as a child of God and Abbie liked the way he looked. Stepped down very stately and stopped in front of him with a silver lining vision.

She just wanted to jump in his arms and feel this heart through his chest but she couldn’t. after some minutes, decided to leave the area, but it was late. Aiden was looking at her for a while but Abbie couldn’t get that.

When she wanted to step back, he got up the sofa and whispered; “Hey, Abbie. Wait!” he stands up and grabs her hand gently.

They look at each other with no words extra and trying to make somethings out, but it is the first time ever they could look into each other’s eyes. The first kiss is always the key. Aiden did kiss her and the love story begun.

In the sunshine and that moment’s beauty Abbie got up in the middle of everything she could have and everything she could wish for. Aiden kisses her shoulders and the wilderness of love would go beyond. After a while, he left for a job and Abbie had her loneliness again. She thought if it was real, she could live longer than youth, but she had a fear inside which told her to be careful, it would not be permanent like all other things she had.
