I was now in the UK, and figuring out if fries were crisps or chips was just the beginning of my problems.

Not only was I officially in new territory where I would be dealing with a whole new environment, but I would also be facing off a Goddess. One that was hell-bent on destroying what should have been my happy ending.

Thanks to the Moon Goddess and her ambitious need to take what is rightfully mine: my mate. Now I'm forced to jump into a sequel of twists and turns that will either leave me with tears of joy...or despair.

But of course, this was just another page to flip in my life.

I sighed, leaning back in the passenger seat of William’s car as we sped down the highway. We had just left the airport and were now heading to the Shadow Moon pack's territory, where I would soon be introduced. The thought alone made my stomach twist into knots. Meeting new people had never been my strong suit, especially in large groups.

I watched as droplets of rain sprinkled over the windshield. The occasional low rumble of thunder echoed in the distance, adding an almost cinematic quality to the forest we were driving through. The whole scene reminded me of something straight out of a Twilight movie.

“How much farther?” I asked, breaking the silence.

William, who had his eyes fixed on the road, smirked. “Don’t be so impatient babe. We’re almost there.”

I let out a breath, “Can you blame me? We’ve been sitting all day,” I muttered, shifting in my seat.

“Don’t worry, girl. It'll all be worth it once we get there,” Chanelle chimed in from the back seat.

“I hope you're right,” I muttered under my breath.

William made a sudden turn onto a dirt road, the tires rolling over the uneven ground as we drove deeper into the woods. After a while, a massive gate came into view, looming ahead of us.

The Shadow Moon Pack.

As we pulled up to the entrance, two guards stood watch. One of them, a towering man with broad shoulders that could easily lift a woman on either arm, immediately stepped forward.

“William! Good to see you,” he greeted with a wide grin.

“Kane,” William returned the smile and nodded. “Been a while. How are things holding up?”

Kane’s expression dimmed. “News about Nicholas disappearing spread like wildfire. People are on edge, some are even acting out. Nathaniel is doing what he can to hold the line.”

William grimaced. “The pack is feelings the loss of our Alpha.”

Kane nodded. “At least now that both the Gamma and Delta are back, things should stabilize a bit.” His eyes shifted to me, curiosity sparking in them. “And who’s this?”

I gave him a small smile and a wave. “Michelle Meyers. Nice to meet you.”

“Kane Weston,” he replied, his gaze flicking to William for clarification.

“This is Nicholas’s mate,” Chanelle explained casually.

Kane’s eyes widened. “He found his mate? That’s great news!”

William smirked. “He sure did. Let’s make sure she feels welcome.”

“Of course,” Kane nodded solemnly. “She’s our future Luna, after all.”

A tight knot twisted in my stomach. Luna. I had almost forgotten what came with that title. Responsibilities.

Kane must’ve sensed my hesitation. “Don’t worry. You’ll have William, Chanelle, and Nathaniel to help you settle in. Whatever you need, they’ve got you.”

I mustered a smile. “Thanks. I’ll do my best not to let the pack down.”

“That’s the spirit,” Kane said, then motioned for the gates to open. “Atta girl.”

As we drove through the gates, Chanelle rested a reassuring hand on my shoulder. “We’ll introduce you to the pack tomorrow. Once we get to the pack house, get some rest, okay?”

Part of me wanted to argue. Rest? Every second without Nicholas felt like torture. I wanted to get moving to start planning how to bring him back from the Moon Goddess’s grasp. But I knew I’d need my strength if I had any hope of saving him.

So, I just nodded.

When we arrived and stepped out of the car, a small crowd had already gathered near the house entrance. Curious eyes tracked my every move.

“Who is that?” someone whispered.

“I heard she’s the new Luna.”

“No way. That scrawny girl?”

“Nicholas deserves better.”

I clenched my jaw and tuned them out. Apparently, my knack for being unlikable hadn’t gone anywhere.

A low growl rumbled from William. He turned sharply to the crowd.

“I suggest you keep your thoughts to yourselves, unless you’re eager to spend the next week cleaning bathrooms.”

Silence fell.

“Thanks,” I murmured to him.

He flashed that devilish grin of his. “Anytime, babe.”

Inside, I was shown to a guest room. Exhausted from the endless travel, I collapsed onto the bed and passed out the moment my head hit the pillow.

That night, a man with silver eyes appeared in my dreams.
