The beginning of the end.
Kiyan, the newest president of the united states, is a very bold, daring and unapologetic man. He doesn’t hesitate to do what he believes in, no matter the cost. He was elected as president after all the other candidates mysterious dropped out. He swore to change the way the country was run and he didn’t disappoint. Taxes were raised, minimum wage was lowered, military funding was cut and many more changes were made. However, none of these were liked by the people, kiyan had quickly caused quite a large mob of people to become his enemy.
But he wasn’t naive enough to believe that this wouldn’t happen, he was already prepared...
His first order as president was to his newly appointed head scientist, Ulvan. Ulvan, who had no legal qualifications, was tasked with the creation of a virus that could simply render anyone who it affected unable to do anything. It wasn’t an easy task as he had to make it before the entire country was about to revolt against kiyan which wasn’t a long time. Ulvan spent his entire 10 hour work day focused on this everyday for nearly two months. It wasn’t perfect but it could be used, Ulvan used every moment he had tweaking any issues the virus may have and also testing it several times a day. It was his greatest invention.
Back to the present, Kiyan had felt a rebellion growing, he knew that the pot was about to boil over but he wasn’t going to wait for it to do so. He was going to put the lid on and stop any possible plan to kick him off before it ever left the test site. Kiyan needed an effective way to deliver the virus to the masses, He brought Ulvan into his office and questioned, “Does the virus keep its effectiveness while in water?”
This simple question forced Ulvan to think. He not only thought about the answer to the question but also about the reasoning behind the question itself. After some time, he replied “Although untested, it should have fairly the same result. If I may ask, for what purpose did you enquire about it?”
“I’m going to poison America’s water supply with it!” Answered Kiyan proudly
Ulvan protested, Kiyan refused to back down and they quickly got into a heated debate, only quieting down after hearing footsteps out the door and remembering the strict confidentiality of the conversation.
“Okay, I’ll allow it but you better have a plan to fix it afterwards” said Ulvan while feeling defeated.
Just like that, Millions and Millions of unassuming Americans were infected in a matter of days. What started as a common cold soon turned to body pain and fevers and then completely paralysing certain limbs. It was nothing less than a nightmare for the people of America.
Kiyan stepped up and made an announcement as president, “Dear citizens of America, I am here to tell you that I am aware of the current situation and will be doing everything I can to solve your issues starting with a complete lockdown, followed by a large increase in government funding on both Healthcare and research facilities. We will also have our best investigators trying to figure out the cause of this pandemic.”
This was his master plan, to fix America, then cause a pandemic to show the people he can fix their problems because of the changes he made. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
If only it was that simple, when Kiyan asked Ulvan for the cure, Ulvan didn’t have it...
Kiyan was furious, he lectures Ulvan ,“Do you know how much strings I had to pull to get you this position? How many strings I had to pull to get me this position? I’ve worked so hard for this, planned day and night just to be stopped by an ungrateful friend who doesn’t know how to follow simple orders! You brat, if you can’t make the cure by next week, I’ll make sure you’re infected too.”
Ulvan stood, frozen. He was never asked to make a cure but Kiyan’s pride stood in his way of realising that. Ulvan knew that he had to figure something out and rushed to make a cure as the symptoms got worse, this really was a pandemic gone wrong...
