Chapter 1 — The Rise of the Man of Lawlessness
I sit here praying, overwhelmed by grief and sorrow. The thought of what is coming—the rise of the man of lawlessness—pierces my heart. The Bible calls him the man doomed to destruction (2 Thessalonians 2:3, NIV), the man of sin, or the son of perdition (NKJV). His appearance will not happen suddenly; it will come only after “the rebellion”—also called “the falling away” or the apostasy. Only then will the Antichrist be revealed.
But who is this Antichrist? Who is this man whom Scripture warns will rise and deceive the nations, ruling the world with unrestrained power?
To understand his rise, we must look back to the beginning. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden, humanity was marked by sin—rebellion, chaos, and strife. From that moment, the world has been in conflict with God’s order: war, aggression, moral decay, and injustice have filled human history. Yet, in His mercy, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, as Redeemer—the way for humanity to return to Him.
Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered and died on the cross, and rose again from the dead. Through Him, we have access to God’s love, mercy, and eternal life. Before ascending into heaven, Jesus promised the Holy Spirit—the Spirit of Truth—who would guide, comfort, and empower believers to live godly lives. The Holy Spirit remains the restraining presence of God on the earth, working through His people, the Church.
But Scripture warns that a time will come when this restraining presence will be withdrawn. The Church will fall into apostasy, and the Spirit’s influence over the world will be lifted. When that happens, evil will surge unchecked, and the Antichrist will be revealed.
Imagine a world united under one man—a global leader who controls governments, economies, and religion. People will willingly follow him. How could this happen? Have they lost their minds? Not at all. Humanity is already being conditioned for it. What was once unthinkable is now celebrated before the eyes of the world. Darkness masquerades as light, and evil is hailed as good. A spirit of deception covers the nations, twisting truth and silencing righteousness. The corruption of children cries out before God — their innocence stolen by systems that glorify rebellion, confusion, and perversion. They are taught to question their Creator, to despise purity, and to exalt pride. Morality is mocked, and the foundations of the family are being destroyed. Wars and rumors of wars multiply, antisemitism rises once more, and the persecution of those who bear the name of Christ intensifies. Humanity has exalted self above the Almighty, trading the fear of the Lord for the worship of pleasure, fame, and self. The hearts of many have grown cold, and open rebellion against the Word of God is now openly flaunted. Yet even now, the Lord calls His people to awaken, to stand in holiness, and to lift up His light in the midst of deepening darkness. As the world drifts further from God, evil deepens its roots, paving the way for the rise of the Antichrist.
This is not a distant future—it is unfolding before our eyes even in the Church. Secularism rises as many churches compromise God’s truth. Reverence fades, holiness is mocked, and prayer grows cold. False teachers promise comfort without repentance and prosperity without obedience. The warning of Scripture is clear: Love the truth. Read your Bible. Hold fast to God’s Word. Only those who cherish Scripture will discern deception when it comes.
The time to prepare is now. If you are not yet a believer, repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit. Turn to God while there is mercy—before the darkness of the great falling away fully grips the world.
The world is changing, and prophecy is unfolding. This is only the beginning—the unveiling of what Scripture calls the mystery of lawlessness. The question we must each face is this: when the darkness deepens, will we still stand for truth?
