Of (Mortal) Death And (Immortal) Love
"The reason I loved this story is not because of its unusual plot, but because of the subtle and unique message hidden inside it. An immortal god falls in love with a mortal woman. He is unable to reveal his true identity to her. He is also unable to ignore her charm and beauty. Sounds familiar? Yes, so far it is. What took me completely by surprise is the lengths to which he goes to protect her, shield her, love her, and eventually, save her from certain death. But he is a god, right? He is supposed to possess divine powers to do all that, correct? Wrong. Zach could have given the gift of eternal life to Zoe. He did not. He could have turned her into an immortal like himself, and “lived happily ever after.” But he chose not to do so. Instead, he gave up his immortality, embraced his human self, and opted for the tougher choice: Live with his love as a human being, and die with her when the time comes. Humanity has long been obsessed with immortality, longevity, and eternal life. Tech billionaires are so obsessed with finding a “cure” to death that Mark Zuckerberg (of Meta) and Priscilla Chan are investing heavily in long-term biomedical research aimed at curing, preventing, or managing all diseases by the end of the century to extend human lifespan, through the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). In short, humanity is obsessed with immortality. Which is why Zach's choice to live and die like a mortal only for the sake of LOVE comes as a huge surprise. Had he been human, he might not have made this choice. Perhaps, only a god can choose LOVE over immortality in this day and age. Author Rain Dayze excels in complex character portrayals. Her stories, “His Fall” and “I Wolf You” are not just feel-good romances, but detailed character studies of morally gray, broken individuals who indulge in constant introspection, face moral dilemma and inner turmoil, and walk through fire before emerging victorious. Zach goes through all that and more in this story. This book could have been a simple fantasy tale of a male god falling for a human female, but Rain Dayze makes sure it doesn’t. She tells us, through this story, that it’s okay to be human, that Death is only mortal, and nothing can ever replace the immortality of Love. What matters is not how long you live, but who you live your life with. If only the tech tycoons were listening. A must-read for those who cherish love, those who dread death, and those who aspire to be immortal. "

"You have a really good story coming along! Introducing everyone as well as showing us the perspective of the MMC is also very insightful. I’ve noticed that your pacing fluctuates a bit. It would probably be helpful if you went through and kept a consistent pace unless the scene requires it. Another option is that you could talk about the details more, how did it make you feel? Show the readers instead of telling them. She’s angry = her fists clenched. I’m just leaving suggestions so this is completely optional and up to you, as it is your novel!
