Music. That's what they were made for, the Musical Critters were made to play music for kids. Instead, they sit far below the retched factory as they listen to everything going on around them. If they made noise, they were ignored, so there was no point in making noise.
Flute Falcon was completely sure no one could hear her at all. She whistled anyway, the soft flute sounds echoing through the cell as she sung the Playtime Co. theme, the one song she knew, and the one song they taught her.
She stretched out her wings, they were stiff, so very stiff it hurt to move it wrong. How she wished to be flying around and whistling for all the girls and boys to enjoy. How pathetic The Doctors words rang in her head as he declared they be sent down to cellars.
Apparently their toy line was quickly removed from the shelves because parents didn't like them. She went over to the door and tested it, pushing on it, sliding her wing along the gap between the wall and the door, nothing. Of course there's nothing, you fool She scolded herself There's always nothing, I'm never getting out of here, never
Just as she reached the top of the door, the bright lights inside her cell shut off and the door opened. She peered outside and saw the scientists on the floor in pools of red liquid staining their white coat. She glanced around and hesitantly hopped out.
What happened here? Who killed them? She was snapped out of her thoughts as she heard a loud and keening screech and saw something running at her. She took off quickly, flapping her sore wings and flying out of sight from the beast.
She watched as the beast started eating the bodies, bones crunching deafeningly as she watched in horror. She wanted to look away, wanted to fly away and never come back, wanted to block out all the sound, but she couldn't. She could only sit and watch as the beast ate those scientists.
