“I am Lucifer, Lucifer Charles Knight”, came the reply from the unknown man. She was scared. Something about this name scared her. She couldn’t remember anything about him but the name, the name alone was enough for her body and mind to go into overdrive and is it true. Is her marriage really a lie and what about all the love and care that everyone has been showering upon her. Is all of that a lie too? Her heart squeezed and her head was hurting from all the thoughts, feelings and emotions she was going through. 

In the car, the three brothers looked at each other shocked and scared. The screen showed and image of Diya sitting on the floor in her room, her phone in her hand looking down at her phone terrified, with tears streaming down her face. The image was so clear, like it was taken from just a little distance from her. They knew that Lucifer was still in Japan and that this picture was probably taken using a micro drone camera, but it still terrified them. They knew what he must have told her and they had probably waited too long to tell her the truth and the thought of losing her scared them. They had to hurry home as soon as they can, before more damage could be done.

Gautam was the first to recover and he immediately called Ashok and told him the situation. Now that they had confirmed that Lucifer had indeed woken up, meant that they had to be extra careful especially with Diya and also told him not to let anybody go to her before they reach home and definitely not before Arjun can talk to her.

Ashok told the family of the situation and now the entire family is worried for Diya and are all scared of losing her while Arjun leaned back onto the seat of the car and closed his eyes trying to calm himself before he can take the next step. He didn’t want Diya to see his unrestrained anger and fear, because he knew that that would scare her. She was and is his world and he isn’t letting anyone take her away from him.

They soon reached the mansion and the three men raced into the house. The family saw them and immediately launched into questions. While Varun and Gautam were trying to calm them down, Arjun went to their room looking for Diya and found her sitting on the floor near their bed with her head on her knees. His heart broken looking at her. He took slow steps towards her and knelt in-front of her and took her hand in his. She looked up at him with red rimmed eyes full of pain. She pulls her hand away from his and looks into his eyes and asks, “Am I really your wife or is all of this just a lie and no Arjun, I don’t want to hear another “You’ll know when the time is right”, I’m tired of everyone lying to me and hiding things from me. Mujhe sach jaanna hai, abhi aur isi waqt”, she said her voice breaking with emotion and eyes brimming with tears all over again.

(I want to know the truth now)

Arjun looked at her with pain in his eyes and the fear of losing her once she knows the truth. “Say something Arjun! Dekho inhe. Who is this man? Why do i feel like i know him but I can’t remember him? Kuch to bolo Arjun! Have I been living a lie for the past 6 months? Is all this live just an illusion, a lie? She cried thrusting her phone towards him.

(Say something Arjun. Look at this. Who is this man? Why do I feel like I know, but can’t remember him? Say something Arjun)

He pulled her into him and hugged her to his chest while she cried her heart out struggling to free herself from his grip. She finally relented and let him hold her and soon fell asleep in his arms. He carried her in his arms and laid her on the bed and caressed her hair gently and watched her sleep, his heart aching. He knew the had finally come for her to know the truth, but he had hoped he could tell her the truth before Lucifer reached her, but he failed to do that. He broke her heart and he knew that.

Meanwhile, the rest of the family was anxiously waiting for Arjun to come downstairs and tell them that he told Diya the truth and that Diya was fine and was willing to reconsider their relationship and her place in their lives. They were all willing to accept any punishment that she would give them, as long as she was a part of their lives.

Knowingly or unknowingly, she had become an integral and irreplaceable part of their lives and they all loved her very much. But they all knew that they had in a way broken her trust by hiding such an important truth, something that was and is such an integral part of her life, even if it is to protect her. They all wanted to give Arjun and Diya some time and privacy to talk, before they could go and talk to her themselves, but the wait was getting increasingly difficult.

Diya woke up a little while later and saw Arjun standing near the window with his back towards her, staring out lost in thought. She looked at him wondering if anything was ever real between them. Somewhere deep down, she knew the answer already, but she didn’t have the courage to face it and tears pricked her eyes all over again. She wished she could just love this lie forever,blissfully unaware, but now that she knew the truth, she couldn’t live like that anymore. She had to know the truth.

Arjun felt her watching her and said, “Everything that was between us was real. My feelings for you and the love of my family for you are real. We may have lied to you about a lot of things, but never about our feelings.” He turned around to look at her and found her lying down on one side watching him with tears in her eyes. She got up and sat with her back towards the headboard, eyes filled with pain and tears and her heart aching from the pain of betrayal. “Then why lie to me at all? Why didn’t any of you tell me the truth, whatever it is? I want to believe you and trust my instincts, but I’m scared of being fooled by my feeling for you and the family. I looked all over the house for any proof of our relationship and do you know what i found?“, she asked him. “Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Everything looks perfect on the surface, but i realised that it was made to look perfect so that i forget to find the imperfections of real relationships. All of this is too perfect,” she said looking around the room.

“So what is the truth Arjun?”

The truth will come to light in the upcoming chapters and we will also know more about Lucifer and his connection with Arjun
