Chapter 1
Jason stood aimlessly, he looked around just uninterested, the faint buzzing of the hospital lights ringing in his ears. He looked around until his eyes trained on a sign on the wall that read, ‘What are you waiting for, the prescription is waiting and the receptionist has been calling you.’ He looked around and noticed some people were looking at him, confused, some hostile expressions on their faces. He felt a little surprised by everyone looking at him until he heard a voice.
“Sir?”, he shook his head and looked around at the receptionist looking at him with a concerned expression on his face. Jason whipped his head around and saw everyone was still looking at him, but no hostile expressions, just ones of frustration. Slightly embarrassed he walked up to the till and grabbed the little baggie on the desk.
“Sorry, j-just started day dreaming.” He said, the receptionist nodded and started typing on his computer. He awkwardly put it in his pocket and shimmied out of the pharmacy, avoiding eye contact with everyone inside.
As he got outside he felt some arms wrap around his midriff, a little shocked he turned and looked at the smaller man with black hair, soft features, freckles and dark brown eyes, that looked up at him, a smile etched onto his face as he spoke.
“Get your meds?” He asked, his accent coming through, not strong but noticeable.
“Eventually, I started day dreaming at some point.” Jason answered, taking the man’s hand in his own as they walked down the road.
“As per usual, anything interesting this time or just staring at the wall again?” He asked quietly.
“Noah, it’s never anything else. Clearly I find walls very interesting.” Noah stopped walking and Jason turned around to look down at him. He held his hands in his, Noah’s warmth filling Jason’s body. He leaned down, kissing Noah on his soft lips.
“I know what you’re thinking, it’s just daydreams.” Noah looked at him with an unimpressed expression on his face.
“Dont wait that long for them again Jason you know what it does.” He said, with a tone of seriousness.
“What are you going to put me into the nut house if I start daydreaming again, looking at the bricks too intently.” Noah smiled again, looking back up at Jason with those big eyes.
“Never sötnos.” Noah said, planting another kiss on Jason’s lips. He laughed a little.
“Finally learnt some of my mother tongue huh? Your accent makes it sound…” Noah rolled his eyes.
“Like I’m talking with a throat full of phlegm, I can’t imagine what a Swedish plus merseyside accent sounds like” He asked, looking bemused
“No, it sounds nice.” Jason smirked. Noah just walked past him shaking his head, Jason following along.
They walked along till they got into a van, Jason sat in the driver’s side, the faint smell of vanilla lingering from the air freshener, he looked in the back, an unmade bed on the floor, the duvet bundled in the corner and the pillows strewn about.
“Where to this time, Feels like a road trip now we’ve been on the road that long.” Noah slouched in his seat as he asked, looking over at Jason. Past his messy dirty blonde hair and his cold blue eyes were bloodshot from a lack of sleep, Jason never really slept, almost completely a night owl from his days as a hunter. His face hardened compared to Noah’s. But it lit up when he looked at him.
“How long have we been living out of the van now?” Jason asked.
“Nearly a year, why? I think it’s fun, driving around wherever we want, sleeping anywhere.” He leaned in and whispered in Jason’s ear with a sultry grin on his face “Making love anywhere~”. Jason laughed a little and batted away Noah’s wandering hands shaking his head.
“Seriously, we have to think about getting out of this rut. Find a place y’know.” He turned the keys in the van and the engine ticked over, rumbling into life. Pulling out onto the road.
“What about instead of trying to find a place here we think about abroad.” Noah suggested. Jason looked at him a bit confused.
“Sötnos we can barely afford to rent an apartment let alone buy a place abroad.” Noah shook his head and looked at him.
“Your family? Why not stay with them for a while, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.” Jason thought about it. Why not, they knew about Noah and him, they’ve never met him but he was sure they would treat him exactly like their own son.
“I could ask.” He said looking out at the winding road ahead; “W-would we need to tell your..” Before Jason even finished Noah answered.
“Fuck no, in their eyes im not even their son anymore.” He said his mood shifted completely ,scowling a little.
“Shouldn’t have brought them up, I’m sorry.” Jason said. Noah shook his head and sighed.
“Its not your fault, but they won’t care either way.”
They pulled into a parking lot after a long silence, Jason looked over and wrapped an arm around Noah’s shoulder, pulling him into a hug. Noah melted into it, feeling his mood lift, breathing in Jason’s cologne, feeling himself relax in his embrace.
“Want anything from the store?” Jason asked, looking down at him.
“I’m good, call your mom while you’re in there, see what she says.” He nodded and got out of the van. He walked up to the passenger window.
“Call your friends and let them know if she does say yes. I know how much you need your weekly get-togethers just to get away from me.” Noah laughed as Jason walked into the shop. He watched as he walked away before looking down at his phone. Going onto his contacts and texting his friends.
Might have to cancel this week’s meet up,
Me and Jason are planning something.
I’ll let you know if I definitely am cancelling
He hit send as a notification came through on his phone, his expression turned to a frown as he saw who the message was from. ‘Mum’. He sighed, grimacing as he opened the message and read it.
Hi Noah,
I know we haven’t spoken since your last fight with your father, but with your and Eddie’s birthday coming up we wanted to invite you round. He’s turning eighteen, can you believe it? And you, twenty-four. I still set a plate for you every year, in case you decide to come home.
Eddie misses you. He doesn’t understand why his brother chose the path you have. He prays every night that you’ll see what you’ve done and find your way back.
I keep hoping this phase will pass. Maybe if you let us help, you’ll remember the kind of man you were raised to be. Your old room’s still here, just as you left it, except the posters, of course.
We’ll keep praying for you.
Love,
Mum
Noah just put his phone down and looked out the window, looking out at Jason paying at the till next to the window, he watched as he took the bag of shopping out the front door before taking out his phone and putting it up to his ear.
“Jason? Darling, it’s been so long! How are you?” Jason’s mother spoke excitedly
“I’m fine how is Dad, more importantly how is Miku.” His mom laughed and he heard her walking around and putting her phone next to something
“Say hello Miku.” He heard her say quietly as a faint panting and a bark boomed through the phone. Jason jumped a little but smiled.
“Shes good, she has missed you though when you come back she might ignore you.” His mom joked.
“I hope not, I was planning on asking about coming back.” There was a little silence on the other end before his mom spoke
“Oh Älskling don’t tell me you and Noah broke up.” Jason stammered a little as he answered
“N-no we haven’t don’t worry, i just wanted to ask if we would be able to come over for a few weeks maybe, we’ve been living out of a van for nearly a year now and we wanted to try going abroad, see if we could find a place that’s not incredibly out of our reach.” He said, waiting, hopeful for an answer.
“Why didn’t you just start off like that? Of course you can come here, both of you. I’ve wanted to meet this boy for so long and now you’re finally bringing him around. When are you coming?” She asked enthusiastically
Jason smiled as he looked back at the van and Noah in the front seat looked down at his phone. “At the end of the week maybe, we need to pack our stuff and scrape together what we can.”
“We’ll be waiting for you both then. I need to go Älskling but I will let your father know, give Noah my love won’t you.”
“I will don’t worry, thank you so much, Love you mamma.”
“Love you too Älskling.”
He put his phone in his pocket and walked back over to the van, getting back in and looking at Noah.
“Well?” He asked looking back at Jason expectantly
“Hope you like snow.”
