Prologue
The Grand Meridian Hotel has been in operation since 1890. Many have walked its halls, some to celebrate, some to mourn. Not all have left.
The spirits here are classified by danger level:
Safe: Little to no threat to human life.
Euclid: A moderate threat, if provoked.
Keter: Extremely dangerous. Containment required.
Rooms housing Euclid entities are accessible only to trained professionals who have signed all required NDAs and waivers. Rooms marked Keter may be viewed during sanctioned hours but entered only by ordained clergy.
Everyone who works at the Grand Meridian knows the first rule:Never unlock Room 717.
- No guests are allowed in the meeting halls after midnight.
- Do not follow the black-eyed children into the basement.
- At 1:00 a.m. on Sundays, the doors of Rooms 101, 230, 451, 502, and 713 will begin to bleed. Do not investigate. Keep them locked.
- Laughing Mary isn’t laughing because she’s happy. Do not meet her eyes.
- If a hallway light flickers, stop. Wait until it steadies before you move.
- Never take the elevator from the basement. Use the stairs to reach Floor 1, then board the elevator there.
- Never open Boiler Room B—no matter what you hear, no matter what you see.
- Between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m., the elevator will stop at every floor on its own. Exit only on the floor you requested.
- The lobby mirror shows all things except the living. If you see your reflection…
- Mr. Black is our most charismatic guest. No matter how he pleads, no matter what he says—never let him into Room 717.
