The Game
"On my mark!" Ruby shouted, launching fireballs towards the group of minions charging towards them. The fireballs exploded on impact, scattering the creatures and sending them into a frenzy.
"Now!" Ella yelled, unleashing a torrent of water that swirled around them, creating a thick mist. "We can move unseen!"
Fiona and Mia darted through the chaos, icicles forming through the mist and darting to the minions. "Keep going!" Fiona commanded, her own light energy glowing brightly.
*A few months ago*
Fiona had came over to her friend, Ella's house along with the others. Ruby was making food in kitchen and Tessa helped her. June and Mia were playing on their phone shouting at each other.
"Come on, come on. Attack the dude from behind Mia!" June commanded while her eyes were focused on her phone, Mia shouted back "June, can't you see that I am busy already fighting with two of the minions here? That too alone!". Fiona smiled at the scene before her, she always loved being around her friends. It felt home.
Ruby and Tessa set the food on the table "Guys, dinner is ready, come and eat or me and Ruby will eat alone!" Shouted Tessa from the kitchen. Soon the girls came and sat at the table. Ella and Mia just filled their mouths with food immediately as the others just shook their heads and laughed.
"Sooo, what was that game you and June were playing?" Fiona asked curiously.
"Oh, that game is the best! I am telling you, Fi, you must download it! It is like, we have to defeat the creatures and minions of the Evil Tyrant, Lord Nyx, and complete side tasks as well. I heard that after the 6th level it gets harder and the 9th level....well no one has passed it." June replied excitedly.
"Mmmhmnmmmphmm" Mia mumbled with food filled in her mouth.
"You shouldn't talk while eating or sleeping, Mia. Don't you know that?" Tessa scolded her in a firm tone.
"You can't talk when sleeping?" Mia asked, though everyone ignored her comment.
"Did you guys hear what is on the news nowadays? I heard that multiple kids around our age have been missing!" Ruby added "Fi, remember that boy you liked? Umm, what was his name again?"
"Oh, I remember. It was Alexander Millers, Fi used to faint at his sight!" Laughed Ella.
"Yeah, Alexander, so basically he went missing last week. He hasn't been found yet" Said Ruby firmly, making the room fill with silence.
Mia cut the tension "OK, so why don't we all play that game later onwards? It's a multi-player game anyway"
"Sure, why not? Anyways we all have a 2 week vacation, might as well play games to spend the time!" June added.
The girls agreed on it and continued to eat their food, later Tessa was washing the dishes while Fiona helped clean the table. after cleaning up, Fiona and Tessa joined the other's in the hall who were watching or scrolling on their phones.
"Finally you guys came, let's download and play!" Ruby exclaimed with impenitentness. "What's the games name BTW?"
"Oh, it's a strange name but something like 'Game of Death', I thought it would be boring but it's amazing!" Replied Mia.
Fiona felt that something was off about the game, as if it were danger. She ignored it and started playing with the others. Everyone were so focused on the game. Soon they lost in the 7th level and everyone laughed on how the game was so fun.
"Let's play this tomorrow again! After we all finish our works we can play in the evening." Tessa suggested.
The girls agreed and each went to their assigned rooms. It was a very nice, calm, peaceful night and the girls slept soundly...unbeknownst to the wrath that awaited them...
