Chapter 1
(Sydney )
Height: 6'3
Build: Lean, semi-muscular — strong yet refined.
Face:Sculpted and angular — sharp jawline, high cheekbones
Eyes:Cold gray — intelligent, piercing, and analytical
Lips: Thin, often pressed in thought or mild irritation
Hair:Short and sleek — always neat, matching his composed nature
Aura:Dominant and controlled — a man of intellect, elegance, and subtle arrogance
Sydney Vale had never smiled once in his entire life. Literally. His kindergarten photo showed a stone face. His high school yearbook? He looked like someone had stolen his lunch money (they didn't—he was too scary or cold to rob). Sydney was born into a house so strict that even the dust particles weren't allowed to be scattered. His parents, both award-winning neurologists and Nobel Prize winners, as well as a rocket scientist, expected their son to be a genius and nothing else...which he was
With an IQ higher than a volcano's lava flow (over 230—scientists got scared and stopped counting), Sydney graduated from college at 15, became a certified scientist at 16, and by 23, he was running a science lab and a hospital. Who does that? But, Sydney, do
But he didn't know what feelings were at all. Happiness? Strange. Sadness? Pointless. Love?
He only recognized and knew three emotions:
1. Annoyance 😒
2. Rage🤬
1. Neutral 😐
That's where we find our dear, emotionless Sydney, who was attending a ten-year middle school reunion for some reason, which he was forced to go to.
Enter: Shiro Tanaka
Shiro was the complete opposite of Sydney. Short, bubbly, emotional mess, and a bit clumsy, and radiating joy like a human disco ball. If Sydney was a black-and-white documentary channel, Shiro would be a chaotic rainbow anime intro with drama.
He ran up to Sydney and gasped. "OMG, SYDNEY! You're still tall and scary looking!!!"
Sydney blinked. "You're loud."
"You're still mean! Wanna eat takoyaki with me?"
(Shiro)
Height:5'6
Build: Slim and average, neither weak nor imposing. Skin: Light brown, warm undertones that glow under sunlight.
Eyes: Brown — sharp yet round, full of gentle curiosity
Face:Long yet soft — high cheekbones, thin lips, and a calm expression
Hair: Tousled and natural — often messy, adding to his boyish charm
Aura: Bright and endearing — the calm after Sydney's storm, pure warmth in human form
From that point on, Sydney's life got weird...for the best, at least. Shiro texted him daily. Memes, heart emojis, and photos of clouds that looked like ducks. Once, he sent a video of himself watching Demon Slayer while crying over Rengoku's death...
"Why are you sending me this nonsense?" Sydney would ask.
"So you know what sadness looks like, duh 🙄"
Sydney stared at the screen for an hour, analyzing every tear and emotion that he witnessed.
What was this warm, fuzzy feeling in his chest? Or Sydney would call it 'A mild yet persistent thermodynamic expansion seemed to occur beneath his sternum, possibly the body's interpretation of affection.'
One day, while Sydney was operating a robot-assisted surgery (no big deal for him), he got a message:
(Chat)
Shiro🍰🍰: "I'm sad... My goldfish died😞😞😞"
Sydney paused.
He left the operation to his assistant (don't worry, the patient lived).
He texted: "Come to the lab."
When Shiro arrived, puffy-eyed and holding a small fish bowl, Sydney did something strange.
He awkwardly patted Shiro's head and said, "Sorry for your Carassius auratus..."
Then he pulled out a mini AI fish tank with a robot goldfish that swam around and said, "I love you, Shiro." In 150 languages.
Shiro cried again, but this time, it was the happy kind. "You built this... for me?"
Sydney muttered, "It's for... emotional data."
It was a lie. Obviously
Somehow, between science projects and constant chaos, they started dating. Sydney didn't even remember how it happened.
One moment, they were at a ramen shop, Shiro was crying over spicy broth and saying he felt bloated, and Sydney said, "You're not ugly. You're infuriatingly shiny."
"Thanks...?"
Then Shiro held his hand. And Sydney didn't pull away.
He didn't punch anyone. He just held it back.
Love snuck in quietly, like a very quiet ninja.
The confession? Oh boy. That was a certified awkward disaster.
Sydney took Shiro to a botanical garden because he read online that it was a romantic setting.
He stood there in front of a bush shaped like a heart and said:
"I believe I am feeling elevated heart rates, dopamine surges, and persistent thoughts regarding you."
Shiro blinked and thought for a moment, "Are you saying you... like me?"
"...Yes."
"OMG ARE YOU CONFESSING RIGHT NOW?!"
"I believe so."
Shiro jumped on him like a puppy and said, "I LIKE YOU TOO, SCIENCE MAN!!"
Sydney didn't smile. But his ears turned red.
Their relationship was slow and awkward, but surprisingly sweet.
Shiro made Sydney eat ice cream with three toppings (he usually had protein paste). Sydney made Shiro wear lab goggles during movie nights ("For eye safety." Sure, sure).
They fought sometimes.
Like when Shiro tried to surprise-hug Sydney at work and nearly triggered an emergency lockdown. Or when Sydney said, "Your emotional outbursts are statistically excessive."
But Shiro would pout, call him a nerd, and then sneak in a kiss.
And Sydney would sigh, pretend to be annoyed, and hug him back with one arm.
Then one day, Shiro said, "Marry me."
Sydney dropped his coffee.
"Statistically, relationships are more likely to fail when rushed into."
"Yeah, but statistically, you're less likely to be this happy again."
Sydney stared.
Then he pulled out a tiny box from his lab coat. Inside? A ring he designed months ago. Made of 5 carats of carbon(diamond) with 20k of Au(gold)
"I already planned to ask... but your method was faster."Shiro burst into tears. Again. Naturally. Now they live in a tech-filled apartment with AI lights that change color based on Shiro's mood, a robot goldfish family, and a sign on the door that says:"Beware of the newly couple muahahahahah"And sometimes, when no one's looking, Sydney smiles.Just a Mon
a Lisa smile...Because somehow, in the chaos of beakers and spreadsheets, he found the one variable he could never solve...And that's how he met!
