Prologue
Sin is the foundation of civility, it defines the being as who it truly is; hypocritical. We believe to be the summum of intellectual evolution yet we know nothing more than helminths*. Humanity has surpassed the natural and pays for it through pure selfishness. Every passing minute from wake to dawn the heedlessness breaths like a cryptic pregnancy. Our own conscience has doomed us to a life of discontent.
As many philosophers have observed, our knowledge will never be absolute. We’ve developed thoughts only far enough to ask but not to answer. The most brilliant and educated are at best laughable in perspective. As neutral as one may be, its only fault was to live. Every experience, every encounter, every step has contributed to shoving the mind in a corner where it may observe the room before itself in its entirety…but it’ll never be allowed to turn around and look at what’s behind.
My truth may not be your truth. We stand in completely different corners, oblivious to what’s behind ourselves despite it being so visible to others. This is enough to drive scholars mad with envy of the vacuous.
Worst of all, there’s nothing to do about it. You may expand your horizon, attempt to divert your perspective but nothing compares to the authentic, physical and emotional experience of life.
*Also known as parasitic worms, helminths are a polyphyletic group of large macroparasites who can generally be seen with the naked eye in adulthood.
