Prologue: The Oak and the Shadows

Rivermont

In the heart of the small village of Rivermont, where stone houses and flower-filled gardens paint a picturesque landscape, stands an old, majestic oak tree. Its gnarled branches and rough bark conceal secrets buried beneath the earth for generations. This oak, a silent witness to the life of the little community, seems to whisper forgotten stories to the attentive ears of the wind.

In a modest yet warm home nestled at the edge of this garden lives Sarah, with her two young children, Émilien and Rosalia. Their once peaceful life has been shaken by paranormal events that have deeply disrupted their daily routine. These occurrences have fractured their family and driven William, Sarah’s husband, to leave the house—unable to bear the growing tension.

The shadows haunting their home have left indelible marks on their minds and hearts. The house, once filled with laughter and warmth, has become a place of nocturnal fears and inexplicable mysteries. Every corner seems to echo with whispers of spirits and the fleeting laughter of unseen children fading into the dark.

A Cry for Help

The situation reaches a breaking point when Sarah, exhausted and desperate, decides to seek help from her neighbor, Marc—an ex-soldier who settled in Rivermont after a severe accident. Despite his own struggles, Marc agrees without hesitation, seeing in her plea a chance to be of service to someone in need.

Preparations begin for an ancient ritual meant to appease the restless spirits and restore balance, under Marc’s careful supervision. The ceremony, to be performed beneath the old oak, is steeped in mystery and ancient knowledge. Flickering candles and a Ouija board set beneath the moon’s full glow promise to shed light on the darkness enveloping their home.

The Shadows of the Past

The story of Sarah, her children, and the entities haunting their house unfolds as a psychological and paranormal drama—revealing scars left by past events and the struggle to find peace. The old oak, ever-present in their lives, becomes a symbol of the trials they endure and the hope for healing.

Through hardship and revelation, Sarah must confront her own fears and the truth buried beneath the roots of the oak. The quest to free her home from unseen forces becomes a journey of self-discovery, reconciliation, and resilience.

The Dawn of a New Chapter

This prologue draws us into a world where shadow and light intertwine, where past and present collide. The old oak, keeper of secrets and sorrows, is ready to unveil its mysteries—guiding Sarah and her family toward a resolution that may finally bring them the long-awaited peace.

The journey begins here, beneath the old oak—where the shadows of the past meet the light of the future.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
