Chapter 1 - Recalcitrant

Chester's POV:

The rain tapped softly against the window as I stared at the unfamiliar ceiling, wondering how a new town could feel so much like a fresh start-and a trap.

I was sitting on the chair and eating breakfast on the counter of my new home. My parents bedroom door was slightly open; inside, I heard my parents talking to each other. Their voices, barely audible.

"Are you sure it was the right choice to send him to Chester High?" Said my mother. "I'm sure, this will be good for him." My dad answered.

"You know... I'm worried for him Oliver... If he gets expelled one more time..."

"He won't." My dad replied. "Not if he knows what's good for him."

I was getting tired of his listening to this conversation. Rolling my eyes I put my unfinished plate in the sink. "I'm going to school! Mom, dad."

"Have fun at your new school honey! Try to make friends!" My mother said. "And don't get into any more fights." My father warned me in a strict manner.

He should know by now I could care less.

My family members are all successful entrepreneurs and I'm always pressured by them to do "exceptionally well" in everything I do.

We move from town to town, city to city, wherever my parents job locates them. And I'm glad we keep moving. Every town and city I've been to, it's like they build a stereotype for this family.

They think we should be perfect, smart, talented, out standing, and we could do no wrong.

But I was notorious for getting into trouble. I was expelled at my old school for fighting, stealing test sheets, whatever it took to get me expelled.

I mean, it's not like we would be staying there for very long anyways.

I arrived at school at 8 am, planning on arriving to school late. I'd be off the hook anyways, I'm a transfer student. But, my teacher was not as understanding as I thought they would be.

My teacher, Mrs. Smith started her lesson 20 minutes ago, and while she was explaining she saw me through the corner of her eye.

"Ah, Mr. Lawson, the principal gave me a warning about you." Mrs Smith calmly said. I pretended to ignore her and I was about to go to a seat at the back of the class. "Not so fast Mr. Lawson, introduce yourself to the class and then you can make your way to detention."

I rolled his eyes and turned to the teacher and sighed. I made his way towards the front of the class. Reluctantly introducing myself. "My name is Chester Lawson, I was born on February 5th, 2007..."

I paused not wanting to say anything else. There was nothing interesting to say anyways.

"What else?" The teacher said. "There isn't anything else." Chester answered, making the class laugh. "Hahaha, you think that's funny, detention Mr. Lawson."

"You were going to send me to detention anyways..." I muttered under my breath.

I was about to leave the room when Mrs. Smith stopped him and whispered in his ear. "We're not off to a strong start here Mr. Lawson, if you don't want to fail, nor get expelled, I suggest you get your act together."

I didn't bother to look at her while I walked out of the classroom, making my way to detention, where I can spend the rest of my day in, alone, peace and quiet; without anyone nagging me.

Or... So I thought...
