Summary

Yvonne McCarter is a talented florist who has been busy running her shop, Jenna & Yvonne’s Flowers, that had been previously owned by her mother, Jenna, for the past seven years since her mother’s death. It is a thriving small business, albeit with some minor challenges that occurred during COVID-19. When she is unexpectedly hired by the affluent Whalen family to design the floral arrangements for the wedding of the year, it seems like her big break has finally arrived. But her life takes a turn she never anticipated when she meets Harrison Whalen, the charming yet reserved twin brother of the bride-to-be, Jayna. Harrison (known otherwise as “Harry” to his friends and family), burdened by the expectations of his wealthy family, has always done what’s expected of him. But his carefully controlled world is upended when he finds himself drawn to Yvonne’s creativity, warmth, and unpretentious nature. Despite their undeniable connection, their budding relationship is fraught with challenges. The Whalen family does not consider Yvonne to be a suitable woman for Harrison, due to her modest upbringing compared to their affluence. Harrison Sr. and his wife Adrienne are determined to keep the young lovers apart in order to preserve their family reputation and avoid a potential scandal. Yvonne is torn between her feelings for Harrison and her duty to maintain a professional demeanor while working for the Whalens. She is still hopeful that she and Harrison will end up together, and Harrison must fight for their love, even if it means standing up to his demanding family’s expectations once and for all.

Kahler, I’ll definitely check out The Taken! The way you weave emotion and experience together is so inspiring, it’s the kind of writing that instantly paints vivid scenes in my mind as an artist. Every chapter feels like it already carries its own visual rhythm, like it’s meant to be seen as much as it’s meant to be read.

If you ever think about exploring that side of your storytelling, seeing your words turned into living visuals I’d love to talk about it someday. My Discord’s on my profile 💬

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
