What is your opinion?

American Witch

"Wow. Just wow. This story is such an amazing read, and I loved every bit of it! The story of Lils and Eliza will forever be something I am glad I had the opportunity to hear. I definitely recommend this to anybody and everybody. The development of the characters is very well done, and the plot is chef's kiss. I really could not put it down!"

A Compelling Tale

"(Thankful I was able to finish this before it was taken down for querying, good luck with your efforts woodvvitch) American VVitch is a paranormal Freaky Friday when Lils Proctor and her ancestor Eliza Proctor switch timelines after a Halloween spell from Lilith sends them across time and space. It's very reminiscent of the jokes online about how x would faint at (insert modern convention) with Eliza adapting and exploring our timeline but also seeing a modern girl have to adapt to a vastly different set of circumstances with less conveniences. While this is supposed to be a huge part of the plot, I found myself wanting to see more of Eliza adapting and her relationship with Becca developing. It felt very left in between the scenes where the reader saw the start of it but then it flashes awhile later and Eliza is much more comfortable, less internal struggle like with her feelings for Becca, while it felt less abrupt on Lils' side of it all. The relationships were all so sweet and I appreciated how Lils and Stevon's story plotline mirrored what Lils went through in Salem, the callbacks along with other tiny details made the plot and details feel purposeful, giving everything extra meaning. The way Lils and Levi acted were especially sweet, same with Luce and Eliza. The writing style especially aided in bringing the worlds to life, word choice switching depending on the POV and the details given at just the right moments to avoid info dumps and any blank canvases. The main thing that threw my immersion was pacing, as mentioned with Eliza's adapting, like the back-tracking in Lils' perspective what had been done in Levi's but also Levi's perspective felt thrown in, where it could've worked seeing in Lils, adding extra tension in the scene, also with the magic elements in the present. It felt forgotten and under developed except for when the solstice came around, then it was briefly mentioned. Same with Eliza knowing Hecate and Hecate's overall presence as a goddess the present Proctors seem to believe in. Also wish there could have been a scene with Lils and Becca after Lils returned since it was a huge thing her crush and Eliza acting on it but it was all swept under the rug after the time jump. Also appreciated the themes in the story like appreciating what one has, and how both Eliza and Lils helped each other in their timelines as well. This story is one of the most unique I've had the pleasure reading on Inkitt and I look forward to reading more by the writer! Wishing you the best of luck querying! Would recommend to fans of well-written paranormal romances, Freaky Friday, The Crucible, and stories with found family elements. "

Two lives switched, sprinkled with history, magic and school crushes

"A lovely story weaving just the right amount of suspense, emotion, magic and history. You staked my heart in a few chapters, but the all around ending made the ride worthwhile. I’m on the edge for a book 2 (did Levi go on to do great things, etc), but I am so thankful you ended the story without a big cliffhanger. Thank you for the research and passion put into this - the author’s note chapter added such another level too, I hope that makes it into the printed version when you pursue it ♥️"

Top-tier magical storytelling!

"From start to finish, I was in awe of the author's ability to weave together threads of magic, drama, sweetness, comedy, shadows and light into a unique take on the historical time travel trope. I love love love the characters - all of them, even the villain Samuel, who is so of his time and yet so undeniably essential to the story. To me, nothing is more satisfying than a well-crafted juxtaposition, and the author has done this skillfully throughout the story. I especially love the contrast of the seriousness of the situation in the 17th century timeline against the sweetness of the contemporary timeline. The stakes are different, and yet they balance each other extremely well. We get a break from the heaviness when needed, without superficiality. For me, the appealing subject matter (magic, seasonal lore, historical elements, and witchy things) combined with loveable, complex characters and the author's talent for constructing a strong, dramatic narrative arc make this a must read for anyone who is into the same kinds of things. This is truly one of my all-time favorite stories I've read on Inkitt."

Time travel with switching places and eras, along with the witch trials... it's a magical ride!

"The plot is great. I really enjoyed the premise, and the story has one of the most engaging prologues I have read in recent times. Eliza, navigating modern Salem, and Lily both steal the show. Every chapter was a barrel of laughs. Lil's chapters sometimes felt underwhelming in comparison. My only feedback is leaning into Lil's fears and struggles to balance the two narratives. I am really looking forward to where the story takes both the time-travelling protagonists."

Strong creative vision 👏🏻

"woodvvitch creates an immersive and atmospheric reading experience. The writing is emotionally grounded, with sensory details that make the darker moments feel especially vivid. At times, tightening a few descriptions could make the story flow even more smoothly. Overall, a writer I’ll definitely keep following ✨ "
