Intro

DINK. DONK. DINK. DONK. DINK. DONK. A medium weight handbell is ringing. It’s not just a bell, it’s a warning call aboard a transport ship. The ship’s crew hurries quickly to get everything in order. Some attempt to hide boxes of treasure in the bow of the ship, others manage the sails, still, others ready the cannons.

“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! GET READY! WE’RE ABOUT TO BE BOARDED! WE CANNOT OUT RUN THEM! WE CANNOT HIDE! WE MUST STAND AND FIGHT!” the captain declares.

“Captain, can I help?” a young lady with mud on her face and clothes asks.

This young lady’s hair is a deep dark brown that, at first glance, appears to be black. Her hair is slightly wavy, much like the sea on a normal day, and falls to about chin-length, having been chopped off rather roughly. Her eyes are as brown as the mud that marrs her light sandy skin. She’s also rather skinny, frail from lack of nutrients.

“Muddy, I don’t need your help right now. Perhaps you can scrub the blood off the decks when we finish with these gosh darned pirates!” the captain grumbles gruffly.

“But I want to help! I’m good at fighting! I promise!” Muddy exclaims, but the captain shoves her aside.

It’s not uncommon for pirates to attack transport ships. Many such have been plundered, some even sunken, all for the thrill of theft upon the sea. Muddy is the Scrubby, the person on the crew who’s in charge of keeping the ship clean and washing any dirty laundry. While often looked down upon as the least important crew members, we all know the ship would become a disastrous mess quickly if nobody was in charge of keeping it clean.

A group of strong men gather at starboard, the right side of the ship, as this is where the pirate ship is approaching from. Perhaps the pirates have been trailing them for days and they hadn’t noticed. Home, for this crew, is still a few days out. If they can just stave off this pirate attack, they can get home.

BOOROOOOOOOOO! BOOROOOOOOOOO! An ominous sounding horn sounds, sending chills down the spines of the crew. KERCHUNK! The pirate ship pulls in close and strikes starboard, nearly toppling all the crewmates. Muddy continues trying to watch from her hiding place. Loud shouts ring out from the pirates, trying to be even more intimidating.

The pirate’s leader is a young man with hair as black as raven feathers. Said hair is a bit matted, hanging as a scruffy mess down to just below his large ears reminiscent of a dumbo rat. He glares defiantly at the transport crew with his eyes as red as freshly polished rubies. He’s thin, just like Muddy, likely spending more time looting ships than eating. His flesh is a sickly pale color, white as snow.

“Well, well, well… Lookie at who thought they could just make off with a bunch of treasures, hmmm?” the pirate captain declares, slowly scanning the men who are standing, swords raised. “Now, then… Hand over the treasure and nobody gets hurt… Your treasures or your lives, which will it be?”

“Let me at them, Ace!” another man, this one wielding a blood-stained cutlass.

This man has much longer hair than the pirate captain. His dirty blonde hair flows down to his shoulders in neat waves like a freshly combed zen garden. His eyes are very beautiful; a light blue beryl or aquamarine color to be exact. Like his captain, his flesh is white like pure marble. Unlike his captain, though, he has a little more meat on his bones.

“YOU WILL NOT HAVE OUR TREASURES!” the transport captain declares.

“Very well, then… Avenue, men, have at these fools!” Ace declares, raising his own sword.

Chaos erupts as both sides begin fighting. Screams of agony ring out as the transport crew is easily dismantled. Ace strolls across the ship, not engaging in any of the actual fighting. He stops, sniffs the air, and swivels his head. He stares right into Muddy’s eyes a moment.

“Hmmm…” Ace murmurs. “Avenue, men… Spare PART of the crew… Let’s have a bit of fun… Well, kill the captain, first. We’ll take the survivors hostage.”

“YOU’LL NEVER TAKE US ALIVE!” the captain cries out, forcefully pivoting his ship off course.

The ship begins heading straight for an island that seems to have just burst up from the sea itself. The pirates gasp, falling over from the abrupt motion. Ace himself falls on his bum. The fog swallows up the ship and the island…

The boat crashed and was wrecked beyond basic repairs. It would take a long time to fix that much wreckage. A lot of people died that day. Not just from the shipwreck, but also because Avenue killed a lot of people.

“Roll call! If you survived the crash, tell your name! I’ll go first… ACE!”

“IMMAJ!”

“AVENUE!”

“COD!”

“ANNE!”

“BANANA!”

“DAVV!”

“BELLA!”

“NORIS!”

“RAZZ!”

“VINN!”

“SUSHA!”

“RENEM!”

“LOGO!”

“WAD!”

“DAN!”

“ALOW!”

“YUM!”

“18 people… Could have been worse…” Ace comments.

The two crews eye each other with equal disdain. The transport crew captain perished in the crash, unfortunately. He was at the bow of the ship which struck land first. He died quickly and hardly felt it.

Right as the two crews are about to brawl, a caravan of natives appear. They are curious as to who crashed yesterday. There are 11 natives total, and they seem a bit frightened by the large amount of strangers on their island. Fortunately, the language they speak is close enough to the language of the ship crews!

After a bit of talk, the natives allow the strangers to stay…but they MUST build their own houses if they want to survive. The natives are Avid, Zamaj, Tomaj, Ballad, Daphin, Alot, Benin, Avail, Noon, Xyvern, and Yourn. Nobody knew it yet, but they just became stranded on Chaos Island. Nothing would ever be normal ever again…
