Chapter 1- The Girl between Two Shadows

Once upon a time, there was a girl—oh, sorry! That’s me.

My name is Elara. Now that sounds nice. Just for fun!

Once upon a time, there was a girl named ELARA. She had two sisters—an elder one and a younger one. Elarawas the middle child.

Since her childhood, she believed she was UNLUCKY. Do you know why? Yes, it was because of her parents’ affection. Her elder sister was her mother’s favorite, and her younger sister was her father’s darling. Elara was often ignored by her own family, in her own home.

She longed for affection and care every single day, but each day ended the same way—with silent tears over her pillow before she fell asleep.

She thought the fault was hers. Confused and overthinking, she began to believe she was UGLY and DUMB.

“WHY DO MY PARENTS HATE ME?” she often wondered.

To earn their love, she started trying harder to impress them. Whenever she helped her mother in the kitchen, her mother smiled at her—and that small smile made Elara feel happy. So, she began to spend most of her time in the kitchen after coming home from school.

But after she finished the chores, her mother would return to being cold and rude again. And that night, like always, Elara cried silently into her pillow, her eyes filled with tears.

Every night continued like this.

But one night, when she was in high school, she was preparing for her exams. Her mother knocked on the door, entered the room with a smile, sat beside Theia, and said…
