Chapter 1 🍀(Lost in the Strange...)
Starlit POV:
I wake up, but it’s not in the mall. It’s not even in a place I recognize. Everything around me is... different. The sky is a strange, almost menacing shade of purple, with clouds floating in such an unreal way, as if they don’t even understand what they’re supposed to be. The air feels thick, as if every breath is a struggle. I slowly sit up, but my body feels like it weighs a ton, as if the ground itself is trying to keep me from moving.
I can’t understand what’s happening. Where am I? Why does everything feel... distorted? The ground beneath my feet isn’t even solid. It’s made of disjointed, floating tiles, hovering in the void. It’s as though everything around me is just an illusion, a dream turned nightmare. I take a hesitant step, my heart pounding harder in my chest.
Kitty... That name slips into my mind, light as a breeze but immediately overwhelming, a heavy thought. Kitty... My friend. Where is she? I need to find her. I... I have to find her.
I try to focus, to remember. How did I get here? What happened before this? But everything is blurry, as if my memories crumble the moment I try to touch them. I feel lost. Completely lost. Nothing here is familiar. Giant clocks hang from bare trees, abandoned armchairs sit on walls without foundations... It’s as if space itself has lost all logic. Nothing makes sense.
I want to call out for Kitty, but my voice betrays me, as though this world has stolen it and hidden it somewhere. So I start walking. Where to? Everything looks the same, like an endless maze. But I have to keep going. I have to find her.
And then, suddenly, I see something. A figure. Blurry at first, like a mirage. Is that... Could it be Kitty? I instinctively move forward, my heart racing. But the closer I get, the farther the figure seems to drift, always just out of reach. I feel like it’s calling to me, waiting for me, but I can’t catch up.
I start running faster and faster, but nothing changes. The world around me becomes even stranger. The clouds twist and shift, forming faces I don’t recognize. The ground warps with every step, as if trying to stop me from moving forward. But I have to keep going, I have to...
The sound. A deep, resonant noise echoes in the distance, a strange explosion, like the remnants of a shattered reality. And the figure disappears. It vanishes into the air, as if it were never there. My heart clenches. No. No, no, NO! Where did she go? Where is Kitty?
I suddenly find myself at a crossroads, with multiple paths before me, each as confusing and uncertain as the next. I have no idea what to do. The paths twist, converge, and split at impossible angles. I look around, lost, but some strange feeling pushes me to move forward, to choose a path. I don’t have a choice. Kitty... She’s out there somewhere. I know it. I will find her, no matter how long it takes.
I take a deep breath and choose. I move forward, not knowing if it’s the right path, but I have to. I have to find her. No matter what this world throws at me, I will keep searching, again and again, until I find my friend. Because she’s out there somewhere, and I will bring her home.
