Chapter 1: The First Candle
Leah loved Hanukkah more than anything. Every year, her family gathered around the menorah, lighting the candles, singing songs, and sharing stories of brave warriors and miraculous miracles. Leah’s favorite part was always spinning her old, wooden dreidel, which had been in her family for generations.
This year, as the first night of Hanukkah arrived, Leah helped her mother set up the menorah. The room was warm, filled with the smell of fresh latkes, and the air buzzed with excitement. Leah carefully placed her favorite dreidel on the table, feeling its smooth wooden surface and intricate carvings. She loved how it felt in her hands—like holding a tiny piece of history.
Her grandmother sat nearby, smiling softly. “Hanukkah is about hope, courage, and remembering our ancestors’ bravery,” she said. Leah nodded, clutching her dreidel tightly, eager for the holiday to begin.
