Chapter 1
This world is a mysterious, fascinating place full of mythological critters and creatures. He's just a small speck of dust under a rug, a regular human.
There's a strict hierarchy that everyone follows, no matter what. Humans are no longer at the top, far from it. It wasn't always like this.
After the Earth had became inhabitable for majority of the species, scientists had sought out for an escape. With the newest technology that came out of World War III, it was now possible.
2045, before the move.
"Welcome to 5701 news! This is your host, Jidi Tam." The TV flickered on in the dimly lit room. It stunk of rotting food, not even the rats would dare get close.
"With the countries declaring peace and coming to an agreement, the most smartest and brightest scientists have all partnered up to get us out of this awful planet!" Her voice was loud, her movements were sudden and, slightly, frantic.
Flynn didn't bother lifting himself off the sofa. He stayed, watching, observing. His eyes were dark, emotionless.
"Say, Jones, what do you think about this?" She glanced over at her partner, Jones.
"Why, I think it's just fabulous! Now, they say we aren't meant to share our feelings on air," He grinned
"We aren't?"
"No- we're meant to be unbiased?" Jones whispered, but not very well. "Nevermind, it doesn't matter anymore."
"We've got one of our team in there, how's it doing?" Jidi's voice made Flynn cover his ears.
The camera would pan onto an older man, his eyes were soft and kind. He was quite well known in the town Flynn had lived in for all his childhood, at least what he could remember of.
The man referred to himself as 'Pod'. It's still up to debate what his true name is. Pod would frequently volunteer at numerous of places, he was most well known for his time in the army back when he was 20.
Behind him was lab with many scientists at work, through a doorway there were engineers and technicians working on something just out of view.
"It's going quite well Jidi!" His voice was deep, yet soft, "I've been given an exclusive tour of the place where it's all happening, and must I say it's wonderful, revolutionary!"
A yell could be heard in the background, not an angry one, not a sad one, but one of joy.
Quickly, the camera crew and Pod ran over. It was a young woman sat in front of her computer, she appeared to have not slept in days.
"I've done it, this is the planet!" She smiled wide, "It's like an exact copy of Earth, but it's huge! It has water, life similar to what we see everyday!"
She looked at the camera and back to the computer overjoyed, like a little kid showing their artwork to their parents.
She got up, taking the microphone off of Pod.
"Within all of our lifespans, we will all be able to here!" Not long after saying that, a much older man shoo'd her away. Pod took his microphone back as she was leaving.
"Well, would you hear that, that's fantastic!" He chuckled.
Flynn blinked. "All of us?" He muttered to himself.
Floorboards creaked as he got up, his bare feet were heavily bruised, making each step more painful then the last.
As the TV went back to Jidi's ear-piercing voice, Flynn let out a grunt. He tried to kick away all the rubbish so he could maneuver to the remote.
His hair was greasy, and he smelled worse then the room. His eyes didn't even have a glisten, as if it were just a walking statue.
Not long after the TV turned off, a knock could be heard from the door. Then it opened. Inside came a woman, her hair was tied back in a ponytail with some hair in front of her face.
"Come on Flynn! I leave for a week - the least you could've done was keep my room clean." She dropped her large bag, which made a large thud noise. The dust from the floor erupted upwards, making her cough in response.
"Oh, be quiet why won't you? It's just a couple of boxes in your room, figured you wouldn't mind." He slouched back onto the sofa, shrugging his shoulders. "Also, close that door, the sun is too bright."
"Right, a couple of boxes of rotting milk." She rolled her eyes, "wait, why do you need 8 cartons of milk in the first place - that's like, 32 pints?"
"They said to stock up on non perishable foods."
"That's a drink, and milk is perishable, you know that, right?" She made her way over to the sofa. Having to throw a pizza slice and broken beer bottle off of where she was going to sit.
"Now I do that you told me," he paused, "did you hear about the news?"
"Yeah, on the radio over here." She sat down, having been moving so much it was good to finally stop. "Are you planning on dying down here with the rest of the planet?"
Flynn thought for a moment.
"I didn't actually mean that. I don't think anyone who lives in the UK has a choice." She chuckled.
"I don't feel like being trapped on a rocket for most of my life." He sat up, placing his head on his fist.
The TV flicked on again.
"Welcome back to 5701 news! We're here with the leader of this revolutionary era!" Jidi grinned wide. "So, Sir, what is your plans to get to this brand new planet?"
"First of all, thank you for having me." His voice was low, and his gaze was stern. "Now, we have two problems."
He grunted, his eyes squint.
"We are currently working on a solution on how to transfer all those who will be coming. The most likely situation is that we only accept those aged 13-25, and if they're country is helping with this or not. Exceptions can be made depending on their IQ and whether they work for the ones who made this possible, or are the ones who made this possible." He slicked back his dark hair with grey flicks, a small piece of hair sprung back up.
"And what will happen to those who do not meet those requirements?" Jidi asked, forcing a smile.
"That is yet to be decided." He kept his focus on the camera.
"Our second problem is how long it will take to get there. I cannot share anymore information." He took his eyes off the camera, making direct eye contact with Jidi.
They were back in darkness as the TV turned off.
"They can't do that! That must be illegal!" She yelled out.
"Ave, calm down. That might not even happen, they only said it was most likely, not guaranteed!"
