Chapter 1

"I think this is illegal Chloe," I whisper in the principal's office. It is nine o'clock on a Friday night. I am supposed to be lying on my bed video chatting with my boyfriend Evans, but I am in the principal's office trying to get Chloe's watch. Apparently, it's a watch from her mother before she passed away. I am being a true best friend by helping her in this mission as I would feel hurt too for not trying to retain something that holds a great meaning to me.

"No. Have you.... here I found it." She flashes the light from her phone on my eyes excitedly.

"Let's go!" I say while holding the door open for her to pass through.

On trying to lock the door, we hear footsteps from the hallways nearing. Locking the doors hurriedly, we take a run for it.

"Hey! Stop there!" The guard on duty yells at us. This cannot be happening. Never in a thousand years have I ever imagined being chased like a thief by school security. I had two important prayers at that very moment. One that we are not caught and two that we're not caught. Chloe and I split up. The guard chases after her and I make a quick run outside school towards my best-friend's car. I sit on the driver's seat as it would be easier to dash off as soon as she enters her car.

She manages to lose the guard and enters the car as I pull out of the parking lot. I would love to thank Vin Diesel for the awesome car driving skills he has shown me. In fact, I deserve an award because I manage to drop us safe and sound at her home despite the high speed. At least we were not pulled over by the cops because I certainly had no license to provide. I park the car in their garage. The two of us rush into the British designed living room passing a very confused father and climb upstairs to Chloe's room.

"I am so exhausted right now," her thick British accent does sound exhausting. I always had some of my things in here since our parents are close and so are we. Changing into my polka dotted pajamas, I plumb myself on the bed and she joins me after dressing in her plain white night gown.

"Thank you for coming with me tonight, Becky." Chloe speaks.

"It's no big deal, anytime. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."She turns off the lamp lights on the table by the bedside. I slowly drift off to bed hoping that the two of us are not caught.

The open curtains let in sun rays that light up the room. The clock on the table reads 11:00. I oversleep unlike Chloe who always rises at seven. It is a weekend, and we should be having enough rest. I wash my face and head downstairs to have my late breakfast.

"Wow, you did not make it to noon today. I see progress. She states leaning on the kitchen counter with her phone in her hands.

"I could not sleep praying that we are not expelled." I say while microwaving the French toast and bacon.

"Do not be scared have a positive attitude." She consoles me giving me her positive smile.

It is so easy for her to say. Her father is a chill kind of parent unlike my mother. If she found out, she'd probably send me to some school for bad kids to change me. My father on the other hand would at least try listen from my perspective. I wish he did not leave my mother and I. Perhaps she would not be overprotective.

"Okay." She replies. I eat my food with a glass of orange juice and take the liberty to freshen up.

"What are you planning on doing this weekend?" Chloe asks me as soon as I return to the kitchen looking more presentable with my hair tied into a ponytail and wearing a white bubble dress.

"I am covering for Ms. Sonya at the library." I answer.

Ms. Sonya is a middle-aged woman, and I promised her to cover up her duty so that she has a romantic day with her boyfriend Jaden. Lucky for her Washington DC has plenty of cool places to go to.

"And Evans?" She asks.

"I'll see him at the library," I hug her bye and leave.

At two o'clock I take my position at Plight Library. Evans joins me in a few. I tell him about yesterday's incident, and he says oh! in the right moments. He tells me how he went to the park with his little brother Kevin, and he was happy the entire time. Evans is one of a kind boyfriend that I am so happy to have. He's loving and caring ways made me fall for this bronze haired boy.

We kiss for a short time. A faint taste of strawberries in his breathe as he slowly presses his soft pink lips on mine. Then his phone lights up with a message. He says he needs to leave. I could tell from his sudden change of facial expression that it was not a pleasant text from whoever it was.

After my shift at the library, I head home.

"Hi mom," I tell a frustrated mother who is talking on phone and responds with a nod. I walk to my room, throw my bag on my bed well laid, with white sheets and blue bed cover stretched out tight all the way to the edges. The exhaustion is later on soothed after a warm shower. I wear pajama shorts and top and cover up with its long gown. After eating the chicken noodle soup for dinner, I head back to my room and call Chloe.

"Hi," she answers on the second ring.

"Hey, were you asleep? It's just 8 o'clock," I ask worriedly.

"Yes, I am feeling tired. I met up with the boy I was telling you about." I could hear the joy in her voice.

"I want to meet him too," I pout.

"Becky, you will meet him on Monday. He goes to our school too."

"Ohhhhh!" I tease her.

"Stop," I imagine her raising her eyebrows and blushing.

"Okay...." there's a knock on my door and mother shouts out my name.

"Becca, open this door!"

"I'll call you back, Goodnight." I tell Chloe and hang up.

I unlock the door, and she storms in angrily.

"I just received a message from Blossom High School informing me, no actually ordering me to go to the school on Monday. What did you do Rebecca?" The anger clearly noticeable in her voice as I swallow hard. Mom only called me Rebecca if she were upset.

The school might have discovered who broke into the principal's office. I could see it coming, my end.
