Welcome to Autumndale

Audrey sat in the back of her cousin's car. She was asleep, her brunette hair covering her face like a glossy curtain. Audrey spent 3 years in baking school in the big city. It was time for her to move on. Now she was on her way to Autumndale.

Autumndale was a town tucked away in the forest and mountains. It was called Autumndale because of how beautiful it was in Autumn. It looked like something that came out of a landscape painting. So many people would visit Autumndale. Artists looking for a muse, writers wanting to record every sight, sound and smell in their novels and Photographers ready to capture the moment. It was a perfect spot for a bakery shop.

Audrey had an Aunt that moved to Autumndale years ago. She opened her own bakery. Now she's getting older and ready to retire. Her son Daniel doesn't want to take over the family business. So she's giving it to her only niece Audrey.

Audrey felt the car stop. She fluttered her unusual orange eyes open. She stretched her limps, then took off her seatbelt and got out of the car. She leaned over to crack her back. It wasn't a very good nap on the way here. She took a look around. They were in town and it was as gorgeous as its reputation. The wind danced through her hair and kissed her fair face. She could smell cinnamon, maple and vanilla gracing her button nose. She smiled, although it was cold she felt warm inside as if she found her home.

Her cousin Daniel had already got out of the car and was already unpacking her bags out of his trunk. Audrey was confused as to why.

“ Hey, why are you taking my bags out ?” Audrey asked her cousin.

Daniel looked at her confused because she thought that she knew.

“ Don't you know that my mom lives at the bakery?”

She turned around and looked up at the sign ‘JO’S BAKED GOODS’. She didn't realize that her aunt actually lived in her own bakery. She was worried that her aunt might not have much room for her. Daniel could sense her worries.

“ Do worry she'll have plenty of room for you” Daniel said easing Audrey’s concerns.

He put his arm around his cousin. They have been close since childhood so he was so happy for her that she got the bakery. He led her inside. When they went in Audrey caught an heavenly aroma. Her most favorite thing in the world. Aunt Jo’s pumpkin pie.
