#1-Beyond the mist
If a man with the last name “wyrd” comes up its just vinny, ive changed his name and appearance over time so i may have missed some stuff.
Lyla woke with a start, her heart hammering and sheets tangled around her legs like they had grown roots overnight. The familiar glow of her bedside lamp was gone, replaced by a pale, trembling moon that seemed far too large and unnervingly close to her window. She blinked rapidly, trying to shake herself awake, but the room felt… off. The edges of the furniture bent slightly, and shadows stretched where none should exist.
She swung her legs over the side of the bed, but the floor beneath her felt soft and oddly springy, like walking on moss that hadn’t been there before. A shiver ran down her spine. She had always been sensitive to dreams, but never like this. Never like this felt real.
Then she heard it: a voice, low and warm, cutting through the surreal stillness.
“Lyla.”
Her stomach twisted. She scanned the room, eyes darting to corners and dark spaces, but it appeared empty. “Hello?” she whispered, unsure if she wanted to hear an answer.
“Lyla,” the voice repeated, closer now. Calm. Familiar. And somehow… soothing.
Her breath caught. That voice—there was no mistaking it. She knew it. It belonged to someone she shouldn’t even be thinking about this way.
Vinny.
Lyla froze, her mind stammering in disbelief. Teachers didn’t appear in students’ dreams, especially not like this. And yet, there he was—stepping into the distorted glow of her bedroom-turned-dreamscape. Black beard catching the strange moonlight, his small glasses perched precariously on his nose. His warm smile softened the surreal chaos around them, but even through the odd bending walls and twisting shadows, the quirks she knew were all there:the crisp button-up shirt, polished shoes that somehow didn’t sink into the springy floor.
Her lips parted, but no words came out. She had wanted to say something—anything—but her voice was trapped somewhere between the edges of reality and this strange dream.
Vinny adjusted his glasses with a careful flick, a small chuckle escaping him despite the odd circumstances. “Don’t be afraid,” he said, his voice calm and reassuring, like he could see the chaos around her and somehow tame it with just a few words. “You’re safe… for now.”
Lyla’s pulse skipped. “Safe?” she whispered. “This… this isn’t my room. It’s not… real.”
He stepped closer, the floor bending subtly beneath his polished shoes. “It’s your dream,” he said. “Or rather, it’s what your mind has made it. And right now… you’re trapped here. But I can help you.”
Her heart thudded painfully. “Trapped? I… I can’t get out?”
“Not by yourself,” he admitted, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. His tie shifted slightly, patterned with tiny gold clocks she remembered him wearing once on a Friday. “But you don’t have to face this alone. You have to trust me.”
Lyla swallowed hard, blinking rapidly. Her stomach twisted, part from fear, part from something else she refused to name. “Trust… you?”
“Yes,” he said softly, hands relaxed at his sides, the warm smile never leaving his face. “I’ve been here before, in ways like this. You can do this. I can guide you, but only if you let me.”
She tried to step back, but the floor beneath her undulated like liquid, pushing her closer to him. Her instincts screamed to run, but curiosity—and something deeper—rooted her in place. Her chest tightened. This was her teacher. Her crush. Someone who should be off-limits and professional and untouchable. And yet… here he was, human, awkward, familiar, offering her a lifeline in the midst of this impossible, bending world.
“I… I don’t know if I can,” she admitted, voice trembling.
He smiled softly, almost knowingly, and brushed an invisible speck of light off the front of his shirt, a gesture so human it made her chest ache. “You can. You’ve already begun. You’re awake enough to see me, to hear me. That means part of you is ready to trust… even if the rest of you is scared. That’s the first step.”
Before she could respond, the room shifted again. The walls seemed to dissolve, the floor flowing away beneath her feet, replaced entirely by the misty, silver-tinged forest she had glimpsed outside her window earlier. Trees rose impossibly high, twisting in shapes that made her head spin, their leaves whispering secrets she didn’t understand. The mist curled around her ankles and seemed almost alive, tugging gently at her feet.
Panic rose in her chest. She tried to run, to find a door, a wall—anything familiar—but the forest changed around her with every step. Every path she tried to follow dissolved before she could reach it. And yet, through it all, Vinny was there. Always there. Calm. Steady. Watching her with those amber-tinged eyes behind thin glasses, radiating warmth in the middle of surreal chaos.
“See?” he said gently. “Running won’t help. You have to understand the dream first. And the dream will only show you what you’re ready to see.”
Her chest heaved. “I… I don’t know if I’m ready.”
“You are,” he insisted. He took a careful step closer, shoes tapping softly against the soft, springy ground. “And I’ll be with you every step of the way. But you must trust me, Lyla. Do you trust me?”
Her throat went dry. She wanted to say no, to protest, to fight the pull of the dream and of him. But deep down, she knew the truth. Despite the fear, despite the impossibility of it all… she did.
“I… I trust you,” she whispered, voice small but steady.
He smiled again, and for a moment, the forest seemed to pause in respect for the simple act of trust. “Good,” he said. “Then let’s begin.”
And with that, the mist parted slightly ahead, revealing a winding path into the heart of the forest. Trees arched overhead, their branches like cathedral ceilings, leaves whispering her name. Somewhere beyond, a faint glimmer of light promised hope—or a challenge.
Lyla took a shaky breath. Her life had changed in ways she didn’t yet understand. She was trapped in a dream, walking toward a world she couldn’t control, guided by someone forbidden and impossible… and she realized, with a thrill she didn’t dare admit, that she didn’t want to turn back.
The path stretched ahead, endless and winding. And somewhere, just beyond the mist, the first lesson of her heart waited.

I think a comic version would be great, but I’m literally worse than à kindergarten child when it comes to drawing lol, thx for the feedback
