"Short book with parts that are really detailed and parts that are quick. I was happy that the abuse portions were short lived and not elaborated on. I do love the characters already and am excited to read what the author has in store for them in the later books. You can totally read this book as a standalone. I won’t be - I’m looking forward to reading more! "
