We are often told that life can change in a second. Mine ended in two heartbeats.

I grew up without parents… well, almost. My mother died, and my father… he just left. I had a little contact with him, though. I grew up in an orphanage, where I met Vehra, my best friend. Despite all her vices, she sometimes despises me a little, but I can’t hate her because she has everything I don’t: a family.

- “Your world”? What do you mean by that?

- The one you just entered without being invited.

His low voice hits me like a burning caress. He’s so close that I feel his breath brush my cheek, and despite myself, my heart skips a beat.I hold his gaze, feigning indifference while every fiber of my body screams the opposite.

- Then I hope your world is worth the risk.

I whisper
