About how this was created:
I first created this as a play at the age of 21, I was writing down notes when working in the states in America New York.
I finished the first play that I put on as a production at the age of 24 years while doing my Masters in Creative Writing.
I wanted this as my final major project that I submitted but I went the extra mile and I directed, Produced, choreographed the physical Theatre elements, worked on styles such as Stanislavsky and Artaud with Mask work acting styles for the actors.
Age 24 it was a powerful piece all my actors were students and they pulled of such a play with so much meaning.
I re wrote the whole play again at age 28 - 30 for one day and one day I would like to see in the West End Theatre because of the strong meaning and people can learn from this.
"hey I know it's a big dream here but something like this I felt could reach so many and educate so many, I have learnt that books and shows can really educate people because we all have different smarts of understanding things differently correct."
Today:
The now, this moment right here, is when I chose to re write this play and make it into a mental health awareness book to see if it is strong enough to reach readers and writers out there.
Trigger warnings:
This is a book about six different fiction characters mental health however one does have a neurological physical condition epilepsy which is not Mental Health but part of the story.
If you feel this may trigger you please for your well being do not read.
A trigger warning that breaks my heart it dose, but I need to put it out there in this book there is a rape chapter however because I'm aware that survivors struggle with PTSD off course that can indeed trigger survivors of rape and sexual assault of any sort this is very important to put in.
I have written it in a way that is off screen say but the after effect which is just as painful. So if you have suffered with such pain of this please miss out chapter 13 and chapter 14 my strong advice to you.
Sleep disorders and are in this book and suicided attempt as well.
Characters in the book:
Sarah- She has long curly blonde hair and brown eyes- Sweet and innocent.
-She is age 18 suffers with Myoclonic seizures with nocturnal seizures and absences with Auras seizures.
Dean- Is 19 years old, he has short blonde hair with hazel eyes.
-He suffers with depression and has addiction habits.
Shane - He is age 18. He has dark hair and blue eyes.
-Hiding his sexuality from the group and suffers with Sleep Paralysis.
Harry - He is age 18 and is Shane twin brother. He has brown hair and green eyes.
-Struggling with dissociative identity disorder and suffers with serious insomnia .
Jessica- She is age 18. She has long brown hair and blue eyes.
-Suffering with a silent eating disorder and anxiety link to food.
Trisha- She is age 18, She has long curly blonde hair and blue eyes.
-Struggles with drink but also with deep depression.
All these characters in my book are going through some serious hidden illnesses all only know about Sara epilepsy, but none know about each others struggles and their health, leaving each other to struggle alone and not tell each other.
This book is deep and hard hitting but time to share their story all fiction characters that I created, that started as a play that I have chosen to make into a book and see what everyone feels on Inkitt.
Thank you all💜
Prologue:
The six of them all grew up together in the same neighbour, never really knowing deep what they were battling but one Sarah epilepsy she had been diagnosed with since a very small child.
All the friends knew but Sarah being Sarah never let them in!
Sarah's Epilepsy changed how she saw life compare to her group of friends, why because she had to be more careful than the rest and cautious.
She had to be the sensible one, responsible all the time.
The one who grew up way before her time.
But as the friends grew into their own people and they did, Sarah remained in fear of her biggest challenge in life yet her epilepsy the one thing she could not control, could not stop and worried as though each seizure would be her last!
Dean just 19 years old with short blonde hair with hazel eyes, wearing grey T- shirt and long baggy grey shorts and has a Tatu on his calve a reflection from lock down and what it meant to him.
Looking out with his thoughts, deep within his thoughts as the sun is shining.
He is on the wall bank, his bike is beside him.
Dean is listening to music and Writting down all of his thoughts in his writing journal, it seems to be the only tool that he has to write and share his thoughts and his feelings in as he writes on thinking out loud through everything that has happened.
Date - 18/06/2023:
They tell you things are fine, things are okay, everything will be okay that life is okay, pull yourself together they say!
Whats wrong with you? come on now stop that!
Stop your moaning, why are you being like this for?
It’s a joke man!
It a fucking joke and its not always okay!
Its not always fine, it’s not always going to be fine because there will always be that darkness, that horrible darkness in life that won’t fucking go away, but you got to pretend so you pretend and go along pretending that everything is FINE!
You could say it all started this year but who are we kidding.
We have been this way for a while now, I mean social media has not helped us one little bit.
The Pandemic being so young did not help us, it was huge for all of us our parents never got that, no one did and while the group remained we lost some along the way due to all this friends of ours scared to come out!
I never said anything to the others but I new it affected them as well even if I did not say anything, I mean what was there to do than stay in and scroll on our phones, on instagram and our school life well that change drastically didn't it!
For a long long time, we were just unlucky I suppose in our generation you know!
I mean the cards we got were in-fact the cards we would always have for life.
We didn’t know what was going to happen, how were we meant to know, I mean there is not much help out there for us teenagers with our mental health.
There I said it mental health, but the issue is I can't say this out aloud only in my book, always in my writting journal.
We were just kids?
I mean kids that didn’t know any better I suppose, well we were all broken from the start.
Well, if back then, back then we only knew!
Dean puts his journal away and looks out at the lake thinking and wondering.
All of a sudden he hears his phone buzzing off.
He looks at his phone it's the group WhatsApp message about the Hoilday.
lots of emojis and messages he can not be asked to look at so he put his phone away grabs his bike and rides off.
