True Love
She seemed emotional, and as he reached out to touch her face, she pulled away.
“Joseph, you don’t understand what you’re asking. I’m not sure you want this, you barely know me,” she said, hugging herself.
“I know you well enough to know I want you more than anything,” Joseph said with fierce sincerity.
Anita looked up at him with her big, beautiful eyes. “Are you sure you want me more than anything?”
“Yes, I do,” he replied.
She kissed him deeply and got up. “Come with me. Let’s go somewhere private,” she said with a seductive smile.
Joseph couldn’t resist. They walked until they reached an upturned boat with no one around. She took off her clothes and told Joseph to do the same. Without hesitation, he undressed. She kissed him again, and Joseph was overwhelmed with desire.
A few minutes into the kiss, he felt something warm trickling down his neck. At first, he thought it was water from the boat, but then he started to feel numb and then he felt a sharp pain across his throat. He paused, only to see Anita smiling. He reached for his neck and felt a deep gash.
“You said you wanted me more than anything, Joseph. I want you too. I’ve wanted you since the first moment I saw you. Now we will be together forever. Your love for me ingrained in your dying memory, nothing says you love me more than this” she said with a tear streaked face .
Even as he bled out, Joseph couldn’t get over how beautiful Anita looked. At first, he was upset that he was dying, but then he thought maybe it was worth it, if it meant dying while beholding her face. As his eyes closed, he thought of his parents, how his brothers would feel. He’d really miss his mom but Anita was his life now, he’d never been loved by a woman so deeply or had any luck with women in general. If this is to be his end then so be it.
As he took his final breaths, he felt her pulling him toward the sea. When they reached the shore, she stroked his head.
“Don’t worry, my love. Our forever awaits us.”
Joseph’s body washed ashore early Sunday morning. It was taken to the morgue, and his family was contacted after his wallet was found. His mother cried, and his brothers mourned him. Tobi couldn’t believe he had lost his friend.
At the morgue, a beautiful woman walked past Joseph’s grieving parents. She looked sombre and even muttered a soft, “Sorry for your loss”.
As she rounded the corner, she bumped into a doctor.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you coming,” the doctor said, looking up to see the striking beauty.
“Wow, you are gorgeous.”
“Thanks, but people call me Anita, only special people call me gorgeous,” she replied with a sly smile.
She didn’t know what came over as she stared at his beautiful face, all she could imagine was his eyeballs hanging out of their sockets while his blood-drenched lab coat was splayed on the floor next to his dismembered feet and she smiled.
