Megan held her cheek as tears streamed down her face, she looked up and met the cold eyes of her father who just pointed at her and began to curse;
"What kind of a child are you?! You dare to come back here and speak utter rubbish? You are not getting a penny from me, talk more of a share at the company, you disgrace!! "
Megan couldn't believe her ears. She knew her father never loved her and always treated her unfairly, but now he's denying her of her rights!
"Dad, i am my mother's biological daughter, its stated here that i am to receive twenty percent of the company's shares, she also gave me full right to all her heirlooms! " She said as she pointed towards a document in her hand before continuing; "I'm not asking for everything, i just came to get at least half of what was stated here"
She was suddenly interrupted by her sister who walked up to her and hugged her but whispered into her ear secretly.
"Megan, you're just a wench, a slut that is despised by everyone, a disgraced actress, what makes you think you can come and compete with me for the shares? Dream on! "
Megan's eyes widened in shock as she listened to her sister's words. This was someone she had trusted since childhood and had betrayed and offended a lot of people for, she was her step sister, but her father showed obvious favoritsm towards her sister but she never held it again her, if anything, she even drew her closer, thinking she just needed love and care. But here she was, speaking like someone she never knew.
"Sister, dad is just doing this for your own sake, your current reputation is uhm, unstable and allowing you to be a shareholder of the company can cause the stocks of the company to drop" The way she spoke made it impossible for one to believe that she was the one that spoke viciously not long ago.
Albert, Megan's father smiled at Elia's considerate appearance and immediately jumped in to criticize his other daughter.
"Look, can't you be more like your sister? Beautiful, smart and considerate, she got first place in the medical school competition, but here you are, pursuing toyr acting career with nothing to show for it! You've been involved in scandals and has dragged our family name into the mud!! You even went as far as giving birth to a wild seed (bastard) as a married woman but your sister has secured a marriage contract with the first young master of the Lu family, the same fiance that you dumped for that boy, you're as disgraceful as your mother!"
Tears stung Megan's eyes as she watched her father insult her and pick her sister over her, all because her sister was the disciple of the renowned cardiologist while she, with her best friend and sister's guidance, chose the path of acting. She was later set up by an enemy she didn't even know of and gave birth to another man's child. She'd rejected her initial fiance, the first young master of the Lu family and went ahead to marry her childhood sweetheart, Zayne, who not only showed her utmost coldness but also continuously sexually abused her, she felt like her whole world was falling apart.
"Megan baby, listen to your father, although he gave Elia twenty percent of the company's shares, he still wants the best for you"
Megan's eyes widened in shock. Her father had given Elia twenty percent of the shares? But she was the rightful heir! That company was her mother's sweat and hardwork but he just gave out shares to her step sister and left her with nothing. She looked at her father and then her step sister and step mother who both looked at her with a mocking gaze and that was when it hit her, she'd been deceived! She'd been blindly devoted to thie family who sucked her blood and left her with nothing.
Her head was still buzzing when her father ordered the security to throw her out, leaving her in the rain, looking like a drenched rat. Megan sobbed quietly at the front of the gate of her family's villa when she felt the rain pouring over her head stop. Megan looked up, only to meet a pair of cold, yet familiar eyes.
