Gray Lines, Silent Screams, and a desperate need for Redemption

"There are no red lines in the first 4 chapters I've read so far. Everything is gray --- wishes, desires, actions, and morals. She wants to die. He wants to keep her alive. Why? Guess, we will find out in upcoming chapters. She is broken. Not just by her past or circumstances, but by guilt and remorse. Those are the heaviest burdens a person could ever carry. And yet, she longs for a permanent escape, as though it would help redeem her. He is not what he seems. He is far more complex than she is. She is an open book. He is a riddle wrapped in a puzzle. He has empathy. Why? What part of his job demands him to "feel" for his target? The first 4 chapters are an excellent character study --- a deep dive into the minds of 2 very complex individuals with very different needs, locked in a weird cosmic bond that they perhaps can't fathom themselves. But what kept me hooked was the storytelling --- short, crisp dialogs, fractured paragraphs mirroring the characters' thoughts, unfinisged sentences hightening the tension, and the total absence of blood and gore and violence. In an age when toxic masculinity and wailing female victims have become a staple of dark romance, this story dispels the myth that gore is good. The "darkness" in this story lies not in fists, punches, and savagery, but in the morally gray world the lead characters find themselves in. This darkness is one that envelops the soul, creeps up from within, and keeps growing one page and one chapter at a time. Looking forward to chapter 5 and onwards👍"
