🌸 CHAPTER 1 — SPRING ARRIVES IN MEADOWLIGHT
In a quiet valley wrapped in soft morning sunlight, there was a little field called Meadowlight—a place where the breeze always smelled of daisies, clouds drifted as slowly as sleepy cats, and every creature laughed before the sun even finished rising.
Among them lived a tiny rabbit named Mimi.
Mimi had the longest ears in all of Meadowlight, so when he hopped, they bounced behind him like two fluffy white ribbons. Every morning, he would stand at the entrance of his burrow, inhale deeply, and declare:
“Today is going to be a wonderful day!”
And as usual, he was absolutely right.
Mimi hopped out with his small cloth pouch slung across his shoulder—the one he used to collect “treasures”: heart-shaped leaves, perfectly round pebbles, fallen flower petals… All the little things that made him smile.
“Good morning, Mimi!”
A cheerful voice chimed.
It was Coco, a tiny brown squirrel with a tail so fluffy it looked like a caramel cloud. Coco was holding a pinecone almost twice her size, wobbling proudly.
“Look! I found the prettiest pinecone in the whole forest!”
Mimi gasped. “Whoa! It’s even bigger than you!”
“Hey!!” Coco flicked her tail at his cheek. “Small things can be amazing too!”
Both of them burst into giggles.
Just as they were about to go flower-picking, a soft “Um… umm…” came from a nearby bush.
A round pink piglet rolled out, shaped perfectly like a mochi ball.
His name was Poko, the newest resident of Meadowlight.
“H-hi…” Poko mumbled, cheeks bright red. “I accidentally… um… fell asleep in that bush.”
Mimi blinked. “You can sleep anywhere, can’t you?”
Poko stared at his hooves. “I get nervous meeting new friends…”
Coco hopped closer, placing her giant pinecone aside. “That’s okay, Poko. We’re here now! Why don’t you come play with us today?”
Poko’s ears perked up instantly. “R-really?”
“Really!” Mimi said, hopping in a circle around him. “We’ll show you the cutest spots in all of Meadowlight!”
The three of them—paw, paw, and tiny hoof—set out together.
Their first stop was Daisy Hill, where thousands of white petals rippled like an ocean every time the wind passed. Mimi raced across the hill, his long ears fluttering like banners. Coco jumped from flower to flower, occasionally landing on Poko’s back and making him squeal in surprise—but also laugh harder each time.
“Let’s take a picture!” Coco chirped, pulling out a big leaf she had cut into the shape of an old-fashioned camera.
“Ready? One… two… three… SMILE!”
Coco blew gently at just the right moment.
A drifting daisy petal landed perfectly on Poko’s nose.
Click!
A leaf-print image appeared, showing the three of them laughing together.
Poko clutched the photo to his chest, eyes shimmering.
“This is… the first picture I’ve ever taken with friends.”
Mimi gently stroked Poko’s head. “Then from now on, you’ll have so many more.”
In the late afternoon, as sunlight melted into warm honey, they settled beneath the old tree at the center of the meadow. The breeze rustled softly, and birds sang sleepy melodies.
“Today…” Poko whispered, “…is the happiest day I’ve ever had.”
Mimi smiled, ears swaying gently.
“In Meadowlight,” he said, “every day can be happy—as long as we’re together.”
Coco nodded so hard that her pinecone rolled off her head and bumped into Poko’s leg.
“Ow—oh, it’s fine. I’m used to it.”
Poko giggled.
The three little friends hugged under the golden sky.
And so, spring in Meadowlight began with a brand-new friendship—warm, gentle, and as sweet as daisy petals drifting in the wind.
