Chapter 1

Emily and her dad were out enjoying the woodland. Emily, who was 8 years old had brought along her camera to get photographs to use for her school project. She had already taken pictures of the towering trees, the autumn leaves that rustled under her shoes and the many colourful varieties of mushrooms that were scattered about the woodland floor. Now she was craving some exciting photographs.

As the pair walked they came into a small clearing and Emily's gaze was fixated on one thing. As her eyes twinkled in excitement she gasped, 'That is a beautiful and magical unicorn.' Her daddy looked around, but he couldn't see anything, but trees. 'I don't see it Emily.' He said. Emily smiled and giggled, 'Well that's because only children can see unicorns daddy.' Her dad smiled and they continued theirwalk.

Emily walked ahead of her dad and was following a noise she could hear. The sound of crashing water. Emily and her dad had just discovered a cascading waterfall, about 70 feet tall. The water was crashing onto the rocks before rushing down the river. Emily took out her camera and just as she got it into focus she was distracted by a whimsical little creature. 'OH HOW WONDERFUL.' she cried. 'You are such a delightful fairy.' 'Look how you lightly float over the water.' Emily's dad took a look around, but couldn't see it. 'There's nothing there Emily.' He told her. Emily giggled, 'Daddy, you do know that only children can see fairies.'

Emily was becoming tired and asked that they return to the car. As they approached the gate Emily's dad was stopped by a whooshing noise coming from the treetops. He looked up to see a huge red dragon swooping towards the trees. 'You are such a magnificent dragon.' He exclaimed. Emily looked up and could just see treetops. 'Where daddy?' She asked. Her dad knelt down, took her hand and softly replied, 'My sweet Emily, surely you know that only daddy can see dragons.'
