Part 1: The evening it rained
Nex never planned to met heny he didn’t plan most things, but life still had a habit of throwing him at the people he couldn’t ignore. It was raining that evening, streets glimmering like shattered glass. He walked into a café only because the noise outside felt louder than the one inside his head.
And there she was. Sitting by the window, a cup of untouched coffee in front of her, eyes lost in the kind of book people read when they’re trying to forget something.
Nex didn’t believe in fate. But he believed in moments that looked too real to be accidents.
When her gaze lifted, it wasn’t shy, it was steady, like she’d already seen through him before he even said a word.
“You’re dripping rain everywhere,” she said softly.
He smiled faintly. “Maybe the rain needed somewhere else to fall.”
She didn’t laugh, just turned a page, unimpressed yet curious. That small exchange shouldn’t have meant anything, but it did. It stayed. Like a whisper that refused to fade.
He told himself she was just another stranger. Someone he’d forget by tomorrow. But that night, when he closed his eyes, the only thing he saw was the reflection of her face in the café window, quiet, distant, dangerous in its calm.
He didn’t know her name.
But he already knew the silence she carried
Nex realized he remembered her face like a habit he hadn’t even learned yet.
