“We Created Something Awful.” Pt.1
Every hero has an origin, some good like one from another planet, others tragic like one's parents dying. But the one that's about to told to you is one that happened under human influence, as you probably know already, the quote 'Hollow Disaster" brought not just the end of the original civilization but also Ethereals, and only one man whose name doesn't exist in the quote 'main timeline' but in this one, his name was Zun-Ji who was commissioned by OBOL to design a weapon capable of easily destroying these other worldly beasts, so why not use their own to kill their own.
With the seeds planted it was truly a horrible matter, thousands of failed tests led to one conclusion: infusing Ether into non-organic life such as guns and or blades just made them fell apart so why not run human trials? On paper it was easier than microwaving ramen: capture a Ethereal, break it down and influence all the broken down parts into the human nervous system, fusing both man and beast into a single entity of both intelligence and strength.
Unfortunately none of the human subjects nor Ethereal subjects survived, they were too weak, too weak minded and so pathetic, at times begging to be put down, to end their horrific existence. Then it clicked in Zun-Ji and he publicly announced his horrific idea to his team of scientists and biologists.
"What if instead of using a grown test subject, we use a young test subject, so young that it won't even know pain nor sufferin-"
One of the younger rookies, Mai spoke out of turn, and out of horror.
"Dr. Zun-Ji... y-you want us to use a baby?"
"Not a baby, a three year old should wo-"
Mai was absolutely disgusted, these adults may have died but they signed up to surrender their lives in the name of science, a three year old didn't have that choice.
"You can't expect us to go through with this, Doctor, we can't sacrifice a baby got the sake of science, and the possible chance that it'll ensure the Hollows aren't a threat, this is wrong! All wro-"
Zun-Ji in a pure move of desperation and complete apathy shoots Mai in the head, and when her blonde haired body hits the ground he then addresses his team of now scared and intimidated scientists.
"Any objections? No, then let's get to work. Something tells me this will be worth the blood, don't you, Mai?"
With that he shut the door, preparing for this project that would forever change the lives of all of New Eridu. Project Renfield.
