Prologue
In the age before silence—when the gods still walked among mortals—Elarion was a single breath drawn by the Celestium, the five divine lights that wove the world.
But as all living things do, creation grew restless.
From the hands of the gods rose five unique races.
For a time, harmony endured.
Until the first child was born of two bloods.
The earth trembled at that child's cry.
The heavens tore.
And the gods, in their terror, withdrew.
From that fracture came the War of Blends, when nations turned upon one another and the skies burned with unbound magic. When the smoke cleared, only one voice remained to speak for the gods. Through her, a single decree was uttered—etched into law, and into fear itself:
"Let no blood mingle with another,
lest the Fifth Weave rise anew.
For in the day that fourfold lines unite,
the heavens shall fall,
and the sea shall swallow the sun."
So it was spoken.
So the Law of Purity was born.

In the highest tower of the Ivory Sanctum, where the air shimmered with divine residue, High Seer Malthera knelt before the Orb of Sight. The runes beneath her feet thrummed like a heartbeat as light fractured across the marble floor. Shadows slid across her ancient face as the Orb awakened, spilling violet fire into the air.
Her eyes—once gold, now clouded by centuries—flared open.
Visions poured through her like floodwater.
She saw fire that breathed,
wings carved from stormlight,
a girl crowned in seawater,
a wolf of stone and soil—
four hearts, four faces, beating as one.
And above them, a fifth light—
shining like dawn
and like the end of all things.
Malthera gasped, clutching the Orb until her nails drew blood.
The divine chorus roared within her skull—discordant, endless—until one voice rose clear above the rest:
"The Weave is breaking, Seer. Purify the threads."
When the vision ended, silence fell heavy and absolute.
Only her breath disturbed the stillness as she rose, trembling with awe and dread.
At the edge of the chamber stood Archmage Varek Drix, his sapphire robes stirring in the cold light. His expression—usually sharp and calculating—was unreadable as he approached the dais.
“What did you see, my Oracle?” he asked softly.
Malthera’s gaze fixed on the horizon, where dawn split the sky in pale gold.
“I saw the end of order,” she whispered, “and the birth of ruin wearing mortal skin.”
She turned toward the Orb once more.
“Send for the Guild of Laws,” she commanded. “The gods warned us once; we did not listen. This time, the Weave itself will burn.”
Varek bowed, robes whispering like gathering stormwater.
When he was gone, Malthera laid both palms upon the Orb’s cold surface.
“Forgive me, Weaver,” she breathed.
“If purity is the price of peace—then so be it.”
Outside, the first bells of morning tolled across Elarion.
The Law of Purity was reborn.
And far below the clouds, beneath the shadow of the Aurelian mountains,
four unborn souls stirred—each bearing two bloodlines,
each destined to defy her decree.
