Chapter 1 the Amato daughters

Chapter One: Amato’s Daughters

Once upon a time, in the peaceful village of Amato, there lived a beautiful girl named Adaeze. She knew she was beautiful, and this made her proud. Her pride often turned into rudeness. She spoke down to others and carried herself as though the world should bow to her.

In the same household was her step-sister, Oluchi. She too was beautiful, but her beauty came with gentleness, humility, and kindness. She helped others, greeted elders with both hands, and showed respect even when no one was watching.

The villagers loved Oluchi. They spoke well of her everywhere. But Adaeze? They avoided her, whispering behind her back, “She’s beautiful, but something is missing.”

Their father, Chief Olakwe, was a wealthy and respected man in Amato. He had two wives:

Mrs. Mesoma, his first wife, was soft-spoken and kind. She struggled with infertility for nearly 10 years before she gave birth to Oluchi.

Mrs. Ifunanya, the second wife, was bold, proud, and protective of Adaeze, her only child.

Adaeze grew up spoiled and overpraised. Oluchi, on the other hand, was raised with discipline, wisdom, and humility. And as they grew, their paths began to show just how different their hearts truly were.
