Chapter 1

Dawn rose gently over Elarion, the most powerful realm of the Western lands, bathing its white-stone walls in soft gold. From afar, the kingdom seemed like a dream carved into the earth - spires rising like slender fingers toward the sky, banners fluttering in the morning breeze, and the distant chime of overhead bells drifting down from the watchtowers.

Elarion was a kingdom of three great walls, each one guarding a deeper, more precious heart of the realm.

The first and outermost wall, massive and ancient, greeted every traveler long before they reached the castle. It stretched wide across the western hills, a towering shield of stone, with armored sentinels patrolling its crest. Beyond this wall lay the outer settlements - cottages spaced with deliberate symmetry, each one aligned as though the land itself followed a royal blueprint. No clusters, no chaos.

Just clean lines, orderly paths, and homes with enough space for gardens, animals, and the rhythm of daily life.

Past the cottages lay the market square, alive even in early hours. Merchants hung strings of beads and polished metalwork; blacksmiths hammered steel beside goldsmiths who bent delicate wire into jewellery. Farmers stacked crates of vegetables, shepherds sold wool, and somewhere, a man shouted cheerfully for customers to try his fresh-baked bread. A bustling pub sat at the edge of the square - its doors always open, its laughter spilling into the street.

And tucked discreetly along the northern edge stood a small brothel, its lantern dim, its presence known but rarely spoken of.

Streams wound through the settlement, feeding small lakes that shimmered near the forest's edge. Horses grazed lazily at dawn; cattle lowed; goats and sheep wandered the pastures; chickens darted across dusty paths. Messenger birds roosted in tall wooden towers, waiting to carry news across the realm.

But within Elarion, the deeper you traveled, the more structured and disciplined the world became.

The second wall, shorter but strong, encircled the soldier's quarter - a place of discipline, sweat, and unwavering duty. Here lay the training grounds, lined with straw dummies, wooden targets, and weapon racks. Soldiers sparred in the early light, steel clashing as instructors barked orders.

Their cottages were simpler, sturdier, and closer to the barracks. A second pub stood nearby, its wooden sign swinging gently, offering warmth after long days of drills. Blacksmiths worked tirelessly in this ring as well - forging swords, repairing shields, shaping spears for the king's growing armies.

And then came the third and innermost wall - the entrance to the Royal Palace of Elarion, a breathtaking structure that rose like a crown above the kingdom.

The palace resembled a grand, elegant dream of towers and chambers - intricate, sweeping, almost ethereal in its beauty. Not quite like the bright, playful castles of children's tales, but more solemn, majestic, and wise. Its high windows glowed at sunrise; its many balconies overlooked gardens, courtyards, and the royal keep.

Inside this final enclosure lay a world reserved for royalty:

A wide yard for the king's recreation, archery ranges for the princes, training fields for the royal guard.

Stables for the king's finest horses.

A garden where rare flowers grew.

A clear-water well,

and modest but neatly organized maidservant quarters, tucked behind a row of citrus trees.

At the heart of it all stood the royal chambers - ornate, sweeping halls carved with the history of Elarion's long rule.

Beyond this kingdom lay other realms - north, south, east - many strong in their own right, yet all acknowledging Elarion's power. For generations, Elarion had been the West's sovereign force, a kingdom of unmatched influence. Some territories served it, others allied with it, and a few merely endured it.

But its closest and most steadfast allies lay in the North and the South, bound by ancient treaties and shared bloodlines.

And so, as the morning bells rang, echoing across the three walls, life in Elarion stirred awake once more - a kingdom of elegance, order, war, romance, and secrets yet to be told.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
