Summary

Seventeen-year-old Eva Flores has always believed her city had two faces—one that glittered in daylight, and another that rotted in silence. Lately, the silence has become unbearable. Rape cases rise. Evidence disappears. Criminals walk free with a smile. And no one stops them. Broken by helplessness and burning with rage, Eva finally shares her pain with her best friend, Kavish Advani—San Francisco’s sweetest tech prodigy, who secretly loves her more than he admits. When Eva reveals the tools she has been collecting and the dangerous idea behind them, Kav is shocked… terrified... and then completely, fiercely loyal. Together, they create Ravenlight—a secret society born from justice and darkness. They don’t call the police. They don’t trust the system. They kidnap the predators who roam free. They torture them for answers, confessions, and truth. They don’t kill—because living with fear is a punishment deeper than death. But the deeper they sink into the shadows, the more complicated it becomes. Secrets spread. Patterns break. Someone is watching them. Someone smarter. Someone dangerous. And as Ravenlight rises, so does the risk of everything collapsing. What happens when hunters become the hunted? What will be the end—justice or destruction? Only the shadows know.

Chapter 1

Eva’s Diary — Entry 1

My name is Eva Flores, I’ve always believed that every city has two faces —one that shines in the daylight…and another that hides in the shadows.

I used to think San Francisco was bright enough to burn all the darkness away. I used to think justice always finds the guilty.I used to think people were safer than they actually are.

But I was wrong. So very wrong.

And the day I truly understood that… everything changed.

Eva

The evening news flickered on the living room TV, bright colors flashing against the cold wall. The anchor’s voice echoed through the room —

Another Girl Raped And Murdered.

Another Justice Under Investigation.

Another Lawyer Smiling Like Everything Is Under Control.

Eva stood silently, her purple eyes locked on the screen. looked almost haunted. Her mother, Lily, stepped in with folded laundry. “Eva, turn it off……. You get too emotional. ”She was clearly disappointed her father, David, appeared at the door way and to the couch, sat beside her and said “It’s okay sweetheart, some things are out of our hands” she said nothing. From the couch, Nick, her younger brother flopped dramatically, tossing a rubber ball at the wall for the 100th time, and said “you look scary”

She rolled her eyes, a mix of irritation and reluctant amusement forming on her face. she grabbed her jacket and her bag and said “I’ leaving” “Where? To save the city?” Nick teased, grinning as she stomped past him. “Maybe,” she muttered, but a small smirk betrayed her mood.

Eva walked through the narrow lane between closed shops until she reached the back of an old bookstore. A metal door stood there, half open , hidden behind a big house. It was Kav’s Lab, Kavish Advani her best friend since they were in nursery. he is a handsome and hilarious guy who understands her so well. “Late night again,” he said, wiping his hands. “Seen the news?”

Eva nodded, her eyes scanning the monitors he had set up — maps, data points, crime statistics. “how do you know me so well?” he just said “hehe” dramatically. “I’m tired of waiting,” she said. “Of people walking free because no one dares to stop them.”

Kav raised an eyebrow. “And… what exactly do you propose? ”His tone was playful, teasing, but his eyes sparkled — he loved watching her fire burn.

Eva smirked. “You’ll see.” Kav leaned back in his chair dramatically, pretending to faint. “Oh, the scary Eva is speaking again. Should I be scared or impressed?” Eva shook her head, trying not to laugh.

She reached into her backpack. Kav’s teasing paused when she pulled out:

A compact electric taser

Dark silicone gloves

Sterile injections

A small bottle of sleeping pills

Rope and duct tape

Kav’s mouth dropped slightly. “You — wow. I didn’t expect… wow,” he stammered. Eva smiled softly, almost proudly. “These are for… the ones who never get punished. we have to be the ones they fear.”

Kav’s nervousness melted into a grin. “Finally,” he said, leaning forward. “I was hoping you weren’t crazy… you’re just… brilliant. And dangerous. Perfect. ”They both laughed, the sound echoing off the walls of the dim lab.

“So… partners in crime?” Kav asked. she said “yes but… we need more people like 2–3 more”

“Okayy….” he said dramatically then extended his hand like a solemn pact. “Partners. Forever,” he said with a mischievous glint.

Their eyes met, a spark of excitement and danger passing between them.

They leaned over the screens, discussing possibilities in low whispers. Maps, patterns, names — they didn’t speak specifics yet. The plan was forming like smoke, twisting, dark, impossible to see clearly.

Kav’s jokes kept breaking the tension —“Eva, if this goes wrong, I call dibs on dramatic villain speeches first. ”She rolled her eyes, smiling despite the weight in her chest.

They didn’t act tonight. They didn’t need to. Tonight was for plotting, laughing, bonding, and letting the first spark ignite.

And as the lights from the monitors cast long shadows across the garage, the beginning of Ravenlight(a secret society) quietly, dangerously, was born.
