Part 1
THE GLOBE HEADQUARTERS
The Captain was going through some files in his office, sitting down and smoking one of his cigarettes that he had gotten from one of his comrades. One of the secretaries of the globe politely excused herself and let herself in, holding a few more documents in her hand as she approached his desk.
He sighed briefly and asked her ‘what’s this all about again? more document on supply units, I’m telling you those storage guys are not doing their job properly, you should hold them more accountable for their actions, I don’t have time to deal with this incompetence in a place like this’ he told her eyes still glued to the paper he was reading as he continued looking through the other documents on his desk.
’I apologize captain, I know it’s your free time and that you tend to do things that of great importance to you, I will see to that the issue will be handled.
He only nodded at her statement as he continued with his work.
‘but that is not the reason that I am here captain Torin, I came bearing a mission file’
‘a mission file?, augh just give it to Angelo or Isaac they can handle it’
‘I’m sorry sir but these orders are directly from the general’
Captain Torin froze in thought and stared at the secretary for a brief before asking her to hand over the file, he scanned through the document and saw the main half of the briefing but this time it was directed to a planet that was familiar to him.
He was not sure why the general to give an order on why
‘The waterlands, what for?, we had already removed the last of the agathist forces from the planet during the battle itself I don’t see any reason why we should connect with them again unless it’s more of a planet bilateral relation occasion’
‘it’s understandable from where you are coming from sir, we know it’s not easy given the fact that they are still other planets that have not yet bought into the idea of the coalition we are seeking to create, the aid we provided them proved vital with their relationship with them’
‘and we lost a lot of good men, miss. commander Raphael was amongst them’ he told her in a stern voice still going through the files that were submitted to him
‘it is not my position to offer condolences but rather respect and never question the higher authority that uses me to render orders, my words may prove nothing of comfort to you and your fellow comrades but I only insist you do the same until the war is settled, maybe then your sympathy will be considered’ she answered back in a cold but sincere tone
Captain Torin only sighed telling her ‘then what is the problem did we get in contact in them to know more about them or just to get something out of them as a thank you for our colleagues’
‘a partially true analysis captain, but from command, they have only told us about something that has to do with the Apathists forces’
‘it’s their land, their world they should handle it, they shouldn’t be bothering us with that?’
‘surprisingly they requested us to get vested on the growing matter, because they believe that they may have found something that may allow us to understand how the Apathists forces operate’
‘I see, enlighten me on the topic’
‘after the war when the people of the planet began cleaning the remnants of war part junk and were carrying the bodies of their home and foreign comrades, during their cross cleanup, it was discovered that the Apathists forces had done some experimental research somewhere across the deep waters, but so far they said they have not sent anyone down the site but they want people with more experienced and enhanced gear to aid them in the investigation and that’s were our forces come in, the general has ordered that a small selected group of soldiers from our globe headquarters have been tasked to help, researchers will follow along for the examination, supplies and other demands will be covered, so don’t overthink the smaller details’
‘when are we expected to get going, how urgent is the situation secretary?’ he said standing up already looking towards the other side of the office for his tactical armor.
‘two hours from now captain, the general can be rather persistent when he sets his eyes on his goals. He says that your quickness to action is what he admires about you’ she told him trying to lighten the mood at the office.
‘i see, don’t worry I’ll be set before that time, by then I would have rounded up the soldiers into the carrier, alert the researchers to be there on time, we shouldn’t waste any momentum we have now and do this quick’
‘yes captain, they will be contacted shortly but in the case of the soldiers they have already been selected, it’s on the-’
‘...the general’s order, I see, well at least that’s one less stressful task to do for the day’ he said as he continued to inspect his gear and other necessities ‘please just get me a coffee from the cafeteria’
‘yes captain, will be done very swiftly’ she responded before dashing away from the office room to complete the task that was given to her.
Captain Torin closed the document he was looking through and began to assess his thoughts on the situation, the things he knew for sure was that even if they complete this mission, apart from what they gather, they wouldn’t tell him much on the purpose, the planets are still looking for the benefactors and it was already enough that they are allies and anything concerning the Apathists should be left to the troops immediately after the battle, not as their cleanup, cause at the end of the day they are soldiers, not underwater janitors.
