Chapter 1

The Thornton World

New York City never truly sleeps.

The streets stay alive with flashing lights, honking horns, and people chasing dreams that feel almost impossible. But amidst the noise and skyscrapers, there are families whose names sit higher than the towers themselves.

The Thorntons are one of them.

In this city of wealth and ruthless ambition, money is common — but power? That is reserved for only a select few. And the Thorntons possess the kind of power that makes senators bow, CEOs tremble, and entire industries shift overnight. Their influence isn’t whispered about… it’s undeniable.

But a dynasty is more than just wealth.

It’s held together by the people who carry its name.

Alexander — the calm king in waiting.

Andrew — the storm that refuses to be controlled.

Arianna — the apple of everyone’s eye, the princess of a concrete empire.

And this story begins with her.

ARIANNA’S POV

“Hmm… thank you, Lord, for today and for waking me up,” I whispered as sunlight streamed into my room.

I stretched lazily on my enormous white-and-gold canopy bed — custom-made from Italy, of course. The kind that looks like it belongs in a palace, not a teenage girl’s room. But that’s what happens when you’re born into a family like mine.

Let me introduce myself properly.

I’m Arianna Thornton, eighteen years old, last born and the only daughter of Martin and Marianna Thornton — the wealthiest couple in New York City.

I don’t say that to brag.

I say it because it’s the simple truth of my life.

I was born in luxury, raised in comfort, and surrounded by bodyguards before I could even walk. My baby crib was worth more than most people’s cars. Poverty? Hardship? Struggle? Those are stories I’ve only heard about from afar.

To me, wealth isn’t just money — it’s the air I breathe.

A river that never stops flowing.

My room alone is bigger than most apartments — white marble floors, crystal chandelier, textbooks stacked beside perfume bottles, and three walk-in closets filled with clothes I barely wear.

But despite everything people imagine about the “perfect” life of a billionaire’s daughter, one truth remains:

Being a Thornton means constantly being watched.

Every move I make matters.

Every word I speak is judged.

Every friend I choose is questioned.

Sometimes, I feel more like a symbol than a girl.

I slipped into my pink slippers and walked to the balcony. The morning breeze was soft, carrying the faint scent of blooming roses from the garden below. Our estate — or “Thornton Manor,” as the newspapers call it — sits in the heart of the city yet feels like its own oasis.

From up here, the city looks small.

Like something I could hold in my hand.

I leaned over the railing, letting my thoughts drift.

Today wasn’t just any day.

Today was the start of something new.

I had finally graduated from high school. And soon, I would be starting my first year at Glittering Diamonds College — one of the most prestigious schools in the entire country.

A school where wealth rules.

Where power plays are normal.

Where secrets hide behind perfect smiles.

I should fit in perfectly.

Yet there’s a part of me that feels… nervous.

Maybe because my brothers made the school famous before I even stepped foot inside.

Alexander — calm, respected, admired.

Andrew — wild, feared, irresistible.

Everyone knows the Thornton twins.

Soon, they will know me too.

I turned from the balcony and grabbed my phone. Five missed messages from my mother, reminding me about brunch with the family. A reminder from my stylist. A text from my personal assistant.

And one from Andrew:

Andrew:

Princess, wake up. We’re going out today. Dress nicely — I’m picking you up in 30. Don’t make me wait.

Typical Andrew.

Demanding.

Confident.

Spoiled.

But he’s my brother — and despite everything the world says about him, I know he has a soft spot for me.

I smiled, already imagining what chaos he had planned.

If Alexander was the sun, steady and warm, Andrew was lightning — unpredictable and dangerous, striking wherever he pleased. Together, they were unstoppable.

And I?

I was the little sister caught between a king and a storm.

I put down my phone and stared at my reflection in the mirror. Long black hair flowing down my back, soft hazel eyes, and skin the color of warm honey. I wasn’t the most beautiful girl in New York, but being a Thornton meant people looked twice anyway.

“New beginnings,” I whispered to myself. “Let’s see what you bring.”

Little did I know…

Glittering Diamonds College would bring more than I ever imagined.

Love.

Secrets.

Rivalries.

And a certain blue-haired girl who would turn my brothers’ worlds upside down.

But for now?

I slipped into my robe and prepared for the day.

The Thornton story had only just begun.
