Chapter 1 Running away

Today's the day I leave home and go to the academy’  I stood at the front of my house facing my mother who was standing in the door way

“I can't believe both my babies are out in the world now” my mother spoke embracing me

“I'm so proud of you”

I smiled patting my mother on her back

“Promise me you'll be safe” my mother asked tears brimming at her eyes

“I promise” I responded as my mother hugged me tighter before letting me go

“I'll get going now” I responded, turning around before walking into the forest.

I didn't turn back because I knew my mother was looking at me and if I did turn around I'd start crying.

It's  been three days since I left home, the journey wasn't particularly difficult,  just cold nights and little sleep.

I reached a small town and as I was wandering the market, guess who I saw.

‘Spiky blonde hair?’

“Katsuki?” As soon as I muttered the name the person stiffened before bolting startling the red head next to him.

Before he could get further away I cast a spell summoning invisible strings that hold him back so I could catch up to him

“Why'd you run away from me?” I asked but someone else asked the same question. It was the red head who was next to him.

Upon looking at the guy for a while I realized he wasn't human, he was draconic, even though he didn't have any noticeable features, you could see red scales on various parts of his skin.

“Do you know him” I asked the red head as katsuki struggled in the background

“Yeah he's my best friend-” the read head replied with a smile

“Let me the hell go" katsuki shouted, drawing some of the crowds attention

“Sorry” I reply as I let go of the spell

Katsuki turned around with his arms folded and a scowl on his face. His red eyes looking me over

‘God damn’

“What the hell was that” he asked snapping me out of my thoughts

“I should be asking you that, why'd you run when you heard my voice”  I asked but he didn't answer

“Ass” I mutter under my breath

“What you'd just say” katsuki shouted at me

“If you didn't hear it probably wasn't important” I answered

“Um, I'm confused” the red head spoke up

“About what?" Katsuki asked in his usual harsh tone

“How do you two know each other, you guys seem close” the red head asked

Katsuki “tch” before looking away as I answered “Were childhood friends, me, him and my brother, izuku”

“Wait” the read head paused “You midoryia’s sister the one who katsuki-”

Before the red head could finish his sentence katsuki covered his mouth “shut it kirishima”

“What was he going to say” I asked tilting my head

Katsuki turned his head back towards me releasing kirishima “None of your business”

“But it sounds very much like it was about me…. Do you talk about me alot” I ask

“Hell no”

“I'm taking that as a yes”

“Keep thinking what you want” Katsuki answered

“Uh, so where are you going midoriya" kirishima asked

“Im headed to the academy… and you can just call me Akari, its easier”

“Thats where we're headed, you should come with us” Kirishima responded before being shut down by katsuki

“Absolutely not”

“I Don't think that was ever a  question, katsuki” I answered linking our arms together

“Let's go” I spoke, tugging him a little.

“You guys are very close” Kirishima commented insinuating something that made katsuki pull his arm away from me

“Touchy much” I mutter as Katsuki walked ahead and kirishima and I straggle behind

After a while we were on the road, passing through dessert on a dirt path

“I thought they'd be more of a scenery on the way there” I said as I looked out the window before laying back

“It gets more interesting I promise” Kirishima reassured

“If you say so…. Why have you been so quiet” I asked Katsuki

“I got nothing to say” Katsuki grumbled, slouching and that was that the conversation stilled and the ride continued in silence.

That is until the sun started to set. It was beautiful. I glanced at Katsuki, the sun hitting him just right as he looked back at me. I quickly glanced away looking out the window

‘Why's he looking at me’

I was so caught up in my thoughts of why Katsuki was looking at me that I didn't feel the slight movement of the sand underneath us or hear Katsuki shout at me as he pulled me close to him.

When I realized what had happened, I was laying on the hot sand, Katsuki leaning over me with both arms on either side of my head

“Why weren't you paying attention” he paused sighing “Are you okay” he asked in a slightly urgent tone

I nodded, shocked. Before I could ask he got up and pulled me up

“What happened”

“Sandworms, there's normally a barrier keeping them out but-”

I freeze “Wait, what! Worms, where” I ask moving closer to Katsuki

“Wait…. Where's Kirishima” i ask turning towards katsuki

“The sandworm ate him” Katsuki grumbled

“What! Why are you so calm about this”

“Im thinking, how I'm going to find him”

“You mean us”

“I said what I said”

“Why don't you want me to come with you” I ask folding my arms

“You'll only slow me down” he replied before walking out into the desert

I cast the invisible thread spell to stop him from walking further

“You're not entirely wrong but you're also a Liar.…you just don't want to see me hurt”

“Tch….You're reading too much into this”

“Just let me come with, if you don't I'll  just follow you”

He sighed before responding “fine, just make sure to keep up”

“Then lets go” I walked up to him as I released the spell

“Spell’s annoying” katsuki grumbled as he continued to walk and I followed

After a while of apparently walking in a random direction the sun sets and cold overtakes the dessert.

“Let's stop here” Katsuki spoke stopping

“For what”

“You want to freeze to death”

“Uh, no….you gonna keep me warm”

“Uh, wh-what is wrong with you” Katsuki spoke, turning away. He walked up to a bush and set it on fire before sitting around it harshly.

I walked up to him and sat beside him.

“Why are we heading in this direction”

“Because that's where shitty hair is”

“How'd you know that you didn't even cast a spell”

“He's my dragon, we're bonded”

“Oh, okay” I responded as my eyelid became heavy and sleep overtook me. I fell asleep leaning on Katsuki's shoulder.

‘It's been a long day’

The next day I wake up to the desert sun blazing down on me. And a soft fur coat was on me. It was Katsuki's.

“Your awake, let's get going”

“Kay” I get up holding on to Katsuki's cape “Here you go” I hand him his cape and he puts it on before we start moving again.

“So what do we talk about” I ask

“Nothing”

“But nothing’s boring” I complained “Also you didn't answer the question of why you ran when you saw me”

“Because it's none of your business”

“But it's about me, so technically it is my business”

“Still not tell you”

“Fine, but I'll find out eventually”

After that we continued walking some more with me doing most of the talking until Katsuki stopped again

“Whyd you stop this time”

“Its here”

“What's here?” I asked

He didn't answer but we started to slowly sink into the sand.

“What the hell?” I asked looking around but Katsuki was completely calm

“Aren't you going to explain this to me!”

“This is where the sandworm cave is” he answered as we continued to sink, the sand coming up to our waist

“And your bring me down there, what kind of cruel and unusual torture is this” I whined

“You're the one who wanted to come so don't complain”

I was going to retort but he was right

“You should have tried to convince me harder, you know I hate worms” I mumbled as the sand came up to our necks before swallowing us whole.

When we passed through the sand we started falling so I cast a spell using the invisible threads to create a net for us to fall in.

“Are you okay?” I looked over at Katsuki who was getting out of the net

“Could have landed myself” he grumbled

“Yeah, and broken a couple bones” I retorted, getting out of the net and uncasting my spell.

“So where do we go from here?”

“Shh” he told me

“Who do you-” I looked where he was pointing and saw a large round light brown thing with lots of large sharp teeth at its mouth.

‘Oh my gosh it's a sand worm’  I thought as I instantly moved to Katsuki's side

“There sleeping so be quiet”

“Oh, okay. But how do we know which one Kirishimas in” I asked clutching his arm

“Just leave that to me”

I nodded, then he started leading me in the direction Kirishima is in.

Kirishima Pov

It's been a day since I've been in the sandworm and I can't get out

Flashback:

When I woke up the ground below me was soft and moist, moving slightly.

I got up and around me was dark, but I could see thanks to my draconic side.

But before I could figure out where I was I realized that some tiny, goopy creatures were attacking me with their tiny teeth and acid that stung my skin.

“Get off” I tried to pull them off but it wasn't working they were holding on tight so I decided to make them stay, it's not like they were really hurting me

I sat down and tried to gather my thoughts.

‘The last thing I remember was riding in the carriage with Katsuki and Midor- I mean Akari’  Then it all went dark.

But the only thing big enough out here to swallow someone whole is a sand worm but there's a barrier keeping them out of the path area.

At the present

Now the sandworm is trying to digest me.

‘Katsuki, where are you’

I was standing trying to force my way through but it was of no use its inside had become equally tough due to eating whatever they could find out here.

“Okay, don't lose hope, you can escape this situation”  I spoke to myself  folding my fist in front of me in determination

I continued to try to force my way through but the ground below me was moving, pulling me back further into the sand worm's body where it would release acid to digest me.

Just when I was about to enter the acid a sliver of light broke through then the walls around me fell being cut with perfect precision by something thin. That's when I saw katsuki and Akari.

I went to hug them both but Akari and Katsuki's side stepped me.

“Huh, why?” I asked disheartened

“Just because” Katsuki  answered

“You were in a worm, so I'm good” Akari answered, keeping her distance.

“Now lets get out of here before they wake up” katsuki suggested

“i cant help feeling you jinxed us” I spoke and as if on cue they awoke and turned their attention to us probably feeling a shift in the air

“Damn it” Katsuki cursed as he grabbed my hand and started running away from the sand worms with Kirishima right behind us.

“How are we going to get out of here?” I asked “were underground”

“There's an entrance they keep open for the young ones” Kirishima answered

“I thought you were doing reading, how are you so unknowledgeable” katsuki shouted as we continued running from the worms chasing us

“I wasn't doing that kinda reading” I answered holding his hand tighter

‘You have to take every opportunity given’

As we continued running, sandworms started coming from different directions as we barely managed to escape through the tunnel.

“Aren't they going to follow us up here?” I asked. And like clockwork one of the giant sandworms came bursting from the sand.

“You need to stop talking” Katsuki responded as he put me behind him and cast his magic summoning flames and scorching the sand worm.

“Oh, impressive” I say as I clapped

“Mind you inflate his ego” Kirishima joked

“Watch it shitty hair”

“Anyway, we're safe now so we should continue on our journey, no?” I asked

“Yeah” Both kirishima and katsuki respond in different tones
