Chapter 1

Llyr was lying there gasping, trying to get air into his body. In his mind’s eye, he saw his beloved wife again. His Lunaeria, who was giving him her warm smile.

“Liramarkos,” her voice called to him, on a distant wind. Her light blonde hair that almost looked white. “You can’t leave Aphrodite alone with your children,” she scolded softly.

Causing him to think of Pen, his now living wife, along with their three children. ‘Could I leave them..?’ Just as his life was slipping away, he wanted to fight to stay.

“You have to stay for them, Liramarkos. You have to fight for them! They need you.”

‘What about you,’ he thought gently. As her image was starting to fade.

“We will always love each other, Liramarkos. But it’s Llyr’s time with Pen.. It’s not your time to die yet... Your children need you now!” Her voice faded and nearly disappeared.

A growl left his father’s lips. “You are staying here, you hear me,” Poseidon roared. Just as water from his father came rushing into him. The living water, the essence that will bring him back from the edge of death.

He heard Ares yell, “You better come back and rule over these people, cousin! Or I might end up killing all of them. I doubt you want me to do that.”

A deep breath came into Llyr at that moment. He was no longer feeling his life being taken away, but restoring it. Once he had enough air to reply to his arrogant cousin. “You will do no such thing!”

“Cousin,” Ares cheered. He came rushing towards him and helped him onto his feet, along with his father’s help.

The blue people looked at him with fear in their eyes. They had no idea who they were messing with. With his father’s living water in him, he had more energy than he knew what to do with. He looked towards his cousin with a raised eyebrow.

“Oh,” he purred with glee in his voice. “I’m game, cousin.”

He heard Zeus behind him. “Should I be worried about what these two are up to,” he asked his father.

“They are going to war with the blue people, brother.” Poseidon sounded bored. “Is there really anything we need to know?”

Llyr stretched his fingers and arms, he felt stiff from laying on the ground. He glanced over to Ares who looked like he was only waiting for him. “Alright, get your sword ready.” Llyr knew not to hold him back for long, not when he looked like he was a lion ready for the hunt.

“With pleasure,” purred Ares. He pulled a sword from where he carried it on his back. It was a long sword, he had it specially made from his brother, Hephaestus, a blacksmith god. He also pulled out a horn from his side and blew it, as if he was calling to arms.

This caused Llyr to look around, he knew the Romans were half way back to their village. ‘So, who would he be calling?’ It didn’t take long for an answer to come. A sound of distant thunder upon the ground was heard. Making him realize that riders were on their way to them.

The blue painted people looked even more worried. But they were standing their ground. Llyr had to respect them for doing that. But they nearly killed his friend and had just about killed him. They needed to be brought to their knees.

Ares just smiled like a crazy war god. Llyr sometimes forgets that his family were gods and goddesses. When the sound of thunder had reached them and stopped at a distance. Showing a great number of forces.

“Where and how,” he couldn’t even finish his question. He was almost afraid to ask Ares.

His cousin laughed evilly. “They’re not mine, they are here to follow you, water boy. Now show them your power,” he laughed.

Llyr sighed, but he had too much energy within him. He reached out with his hands, calling for the water. Something in him catched, he felt it, the water didn’t feel like it was struggling to come. No, it came like a tidal wave. Rushing towards him, wave after wave.

With a turn of his body, the water rushed at the blue painted people at full force like nothing before. It shoved many people back, as well as whipping them. He felt more like his father than he had before. Someone with more power and control, he hadn’t felt like he could summon seas like this.

One of the blue painted people crawled up to him. With defiance and fear, “Who are you?”

Llyr glared down at him. “I am Llyr, God of Water.” His voice roared for all to hear within ear shout. Just as he called the water and rushed at the man before him. It was enough to wash the blue paint from his body. “I don’t like people taking lives,” he growled.

Llyr heard Ares was busy with his own battles. Because he could hear him using his sword. Llyr wasn’t going to take a chance to see what was going on, not again. With a wave, he washed the ambushed teenagers, the ones that took him out.

He was using more power then he ever had and he wasn’t tiring. “Hear my words,” he yelled as the crushed wave hit the people harder. “If you don’t yield you will find yourself in the ground.”

He heard Zeus in the background. “Poseidon, your son is going to cause me to have gray hair for this.”

“How, when you have white hair brother,” his father had pointed out with a dull voice.

“Do you really want lightning charged on your body?” Zeus didn’t sound amused.

Llyr just sighed, as he walked towards the man in charge of the village. The man didn’t show fear, he just leaned against a rock and closed his eyes. Allowing whatever fate was heading his way. He looked like a man with nothing to lose or have nothing to gain either. Llyr didn’t feel sorry for the man.

Once he was before the leader. He stopped, only to look at the man and he was nothing more than an average man. “You really think you had the power against a god?”

That was when the man’s eyes popped open and they showed a hint of fear. “God? I thought you were a Fae,” his voice came out with a squeak.

“Fae,” he asked in disbelief. Not understanding what the man was saying.

“Fae, fairy, from the other world.” The man struggled to explain. “A world beyond our own. Someone with magic.”

Llyr shook his head. “That isn’t me. I’m a God and I am from the Sea.”

The man struggled with himself, before he bowed before Llyr. Causing the rest of the people to bow as well. Putting an end to the war that they had with them. He could only hope at this point.

The many that came to watch from a distance had disappeared like a puff of smoke. Except for the horses that stayed behind. This caused Llyr to turn towards Ares with a raised eyebrow.

“Oops,” he said, as he shrugged his shoulders.

Llyr shook his head and turned on his heel. “You’re such a child,” he growled at his cousin.

“Umm,” the leader tried to call out. Causing Llyr to look over his shoulder to him. “Are you our God, now,” he asked, sounding lost.

Llyr closed his eyes for a moment before he faced him. “What is your name?”

“Drustan Azul,” stated the leader with fear in his tone.

“Why are you afraid,” asked Llyr. “We are no longer at war.”

Drustan pulled himself off the ground. “How can we get a hold of you if we need you?”

Llyr glanced around the village before he realized how close they were to the water. He marched towards the water. Where he felt the village had followed him, mainly Drustan. He placed his hand in the water, before he pulled out a shell horn. He handed it over to Drustan, who looked at it in disbelief.

Llyr waved at the shell. “Just take a breath into it.”

Drustan glared but did as he was told. No one could hear the blast of the horn, but Llyr had to place his hands on his ears. “Believe me, I can hear it. No matter if I am on this island or the next. I will hear it.”

Drustan raised his eyebrow at him in disbelief. “You’re not lying to me are you,” he growled.

Llyr gave him a hard look. “You may have trust issues, Drustan. But hear my words, I can hear it. That thing is louder than anything I have ever heard.”

His father, who had been quiet for a while, had complained. “How in all of Hades can these people not hear the horn’s evil sound?!”

Drustan glanced over towards Poseidon with a glare. “Who is he to you,” he asked in a dull tone.

“My father,” replied Llyr. “He can also hear the horn. We are the Gods of Water. Only those who are born of water magic can hear it. That’s why none of you can hear it, nor my uncle or my cousin.”

Drustan glanced at Ares and then at Zeus. He pointed towards Zeus, “If he had gotten into the war, would we have died or been taken out sooner?”

“That would be correct,” stated Llyr. He knew not to lie to the man before him.

The leader of the blue people bowed before him, as well as the rest of the village. “Thank you for giving us a chance, at least.”

Llyr let out a sigh, he earned their respect that day. With that, he left the village with a feeling that there will be peace. He left with his father, uncle, and cousin with a sense of knowing he did something good for not just one group of people, but many. ‘I hope it will last…’
