What is your opinion?

Intermedia

"I'm fascinated by both the authorial voice and use of multimedia. There's an appealing dramaturgical sensibility about structuring the piece as computer code dialogue that supports the development of the characters. The hyperlinks are a fascinating storytelling tool in which Mahay takes full advantage of the means by which his story is distributed, i.e., internet."

The Human Quotient

"This story shows wonderful imagination and illustrates the tragedies that occur when we lose our humanity. The fragmented style and dehumanization of characters is intriguing. the futuristic setting uses the best elements of the apocalyptic world to create a disjointed feeling of disconnect, hopelessness, anger, and frustration at a fragmented society. Characters like the Human Quotient, nameless and isolated, draw the reader in. This type of plot brings us to authors like Rand."

If James Joyce Wrote Sci-Fi

"James Joyce meets Issac Asimov! This is a very Ulysses approach to writing a science fiction novel, with layers of narration and perspective splintered together, telling the story of humanity's destruction in the face of the robots who come to our blue orb. The style is very clever, as it shows how humanity becomes more and more fragmented, while the robots learn they need to "be to see," and become more and more human--even requesting a name by the end. It takes a bit to get into the flow of the story, and by that time the story ends, so this seems to suggest/merit a longer treatment. That said, I think it would be difficult to maintain a longer work in this style, so I understand why the author opted for this brevity. But this aside, it's a fun read and challenges HOW your read, which is the best challenge of all. This is clearly a skilfully writer with a lot to say, and I hope to read more in this vein."

The Human Quotient adds up to Amazing

"This is a story taken in a wonderful, creative new direction by incorporating interactive links that lead the reader into the story of the computer/robot systems as they discuss the fate of human kind. It is unique, wonderfully imaginative and well told, This a bright new voice in speculative fiction and I am looking forward to more,"
