Chapter 1
Hi guys, I’m called Lyla, but my best friend Jink calls me Lalu. We’ve known each other since kindergarten. He was always my hero—he would help me whenever I got into trouble.
(Classroom)
Teacher: Students, take your seats now and be silent.
Lyla: Ma’am, do we have a test today?
Ms. Maria: No, dear. I shifted it to Wednesday.
(Suddenly, Jink walks in late. He’s never late.)
(The students whisper.)
Student 1: He’s never late… what happened? And he looks angry.
Lyla: Hi, Jink.
Jink: I’m not in the mood, Lyla.
I felt bad and a little neglected, but I just smiled.

Teacher: Don’t forget to do your assignment.
Sindy: Yes, ma’am.
