Chapter 1: The truth is more dangerous than magic

Life does not warn before it takes anything away

At only three years old ,a child lost her parents in a sudden car crash -while she sat at a daycare , playing, laughing and awaiting for arms that would never open up for her again. In a single moment her world collapsed though she was too young to understand what had been stolen from her.

Her name was Eleutheria -A beautiful name meaning Freedom.A cruel irony, perhaps, for a child whose life would be shaped by loss before memory could even soften it.Eleutheria Roberts grew up behind the quiet walls of the orphanage, where days blurred into years and questions often went unanswered . She learned early how to survive without comfort, how to grow without guidance and how to carry grief that had no face.Yet she endured

At the age of 18,she had completed her schooling and stood on the fragile edge of adulthood.University awaited her -not as an escape from her past but as a chance to rewrite her future.Though her beginning was marked by tragedy, Eleutheria was finally stepping towards the freedom her name promised her all along

“Eleutheria Roberts, time for you to go,!” The matron called out sharply

“Yes , ma'am! , coming !” Eleu replied, her heart pounding as she hurried towards the office.

She stepped inside nerves twisting her stomach

“Sign these formalities…..and…umm… there is something for you.”the matron said leaving Eleu hanging in suspense and as she placed a small envelope on the desk.

,”what….is .it ?” Eleutheria asked, her curiosity mixing up with anxiety, eyes fixed at the mysterious envelope.

“This is a will,”the said, her voice calm and practiced. “It states that all property your parents owned is now yours, since you were their only child, everything has been left in your name.”

Eleutheria listened in silence, the words settling heavily in her chest

Eleu looked down on the paper.Gousws, land, possession -none of it felt real.None of could replace the warmth of a voice calling out her name,or the comfort of arms she barely remembered. What lay before her was not a gift but proof of what had been taken too soon

Slowly she picked up a pen and signed

“Thank you ma'am.”Eleu said as she lowered her head still gratitude filled in her eyes

“ It's okay sweetie, you, get going.I am hoping good results for your twelfth grade . Hope the doors of university open up for you.”The says with a calmed and settled voice

Like I said I'm indepted to you.Eleu says as she hides her teas behind her eyelids.

“Sweetie.”She calls out to Eleu when she was about to leave. “Am a call away.”

“Bye.” Eleu greets

“Let me do you another favor.”Matron said as compassion whelmed in her eyes .

“What.”Elue is yet again hanged in suspense

“Henry!”Matron calls out sharply to her driver and strangled Eleutheria in suspense

“Ma'am?”Henry replies trying to turn the situation more visible for all

“Take this girl to her home,I will email you the address.”Matron says as she puts compassion forth.

“Yes.” Henry agrees without any hesitation

“Thank you matron.”Eleu says

The driver dropped Eleutheria at king's Parade lane Cambridge. He opened the car door and Eleu stepped out slowly, eyes briming with joy, then sorrow.Holding her keys, she unlocked the door and entered the house. The driver watched her go before driving away. Inside ,the house felt silent,as though it had been waiting for her

She paused.

A woman’s voice slipped through the house -low distant , singing without word she could fully grasp. It threaded itself along the walls and stairwells , lingering where light failes to reach. The song did not beckon ,nor did it retreat;it simply endure ,as though the house itself had learned how to sing.Eleutheria remained still, listening, uncertain whether the voice was moving

“Who… who is there?” Eleu laughed nervously, though her chest felt tight. “How did you get in? Show yourself.”

“I’m coming,” the lady said.

An old woman stepped forward.

Eleu’s smile faded. Her fingers curled slightly at her sides.

“An old lady? Who are you?” she asked, her voice quieter now.

“Oh my,” the woman murmured softly. “Such beauty… just like Tiffany.”

She lifted her hand and touched Eleu’s cheeks.

Eleu froze. The touch was gentle, but it made her skin prickle.

“How do you know my mom?” Eleu asked.
