AVA'S POV

Today is the day that I arrive at Nightfall Academy. An elite boarding school that has old stones aligned with ivy green grass.By day, the Academy looked ordinary.

But, by night it came alive.

I clutched my bag to my chest as I walked down the pathway to the Academy. My legs were shaking from the nervous feeling I felt.As I reached the main corridor, I stopped.

A tall man dressed in all black looked like he owned the night.Dark brown eyes and blonde hair that swayed. When our eyes met, I felt electricity.

A shiver went down my spine as our eyes locked.I couldn't tell right away but, I knew that my encounter with him wouldn't be friendly.

I walked past him as his serious gaze lingers on me.He spoke in a very low voice.

SULLIVAN

"You don't belong here."

AVA

"What do you mean?"

SULLIVAN

"You'll find out soon enough."

He brushed past me and walked away. What did he mean by that?Besides, he doesn't even know me.He can't just walk in here and think he can tell me what to do.

I made my way towards the classroom and went inside. I folded my arms to my chest and looked at the teacher uncomfortably. He spoke in a low hoarse voice.

HAROLD

"Find your seat".

I glanced over to my assigned seat and sat down. Another lecture about science. I fiddled with my pencil and stared at the clock wondering if it was ever going to end.

All of a sudden, the door burst open and in came the man I saw earlier. The teacher looked very unhappy with him.

HAROLD

"Your late"

"Find a seat, Mortayne"

The man rolled his eyes and put his hand on his chin. As he scanned the room, His eyes landed on me. He smirked in amusement as he silently walked over to were I was.

As he sat down, he crossed his arms to his chest and stared at me intently.

AVA

"You know... It's considered rude to stare."

He just continued to stare at me like reading a book. He wasn't just staring, He was studying me. I took all his features in as he gazed at me.

The teacher finally spoke in a low voice.

HAROLD

"Today we will be doing a presentation on blood types. You will be partnered with the person sitting next to you."

"Begin."

I rolled my eyes sarcastically as he smirked at me with more amusement.

AVA

"Lets get this over with."

"What is your name?"

He smirked.

SULLIVAN

"Sullivan."

I pricked my finger and placed the blood onto the piece of paper. As I was doing this, Sullivan started acting weird. He looked at the blood and reacted with anger.

He got up from his seat and stormed out of the classroom.

AVA'S POV

What was that about?

I tried to continue listening to the lecture but, my mind was elsewere. It was confusing how he reacted to the blood. If only I knew back then what I know now. I would have stayed away.

That night, as I laid in my bed I drifted off to sleep. I saw two people in a dark forest. A tall figure biting the other person's neck.

I awoke realizing it was just a dream. But, that dream didn't feel like any dream. It felt to real to be unrealistic.

I calmed myself down and drifted off to sleep again. The next morning, I had three missed calls from Emily. As I was walking down the hallway, I was to busy looking at my phone to notice that I bumped into something hard.

I fell on my knees on top of a tall man with grey eyes. I blushed when I realized the position we were in. I was on top of him with my legs over his. He let out a small sigh.

SAWYER

"Do you walk much?"

AVA

"I'm so sorry!"

"I wasn't watching were I was going."

I stood up and looked awkwardly at the man. The man got up and crossed his arms. He said in a deep voice.

SAWYER

"Obviously, you need to learn basic walking skills."

AVA'S POV

He rolled his eyes at me and left. As I stood there dumbfounded, I thought, "Is everyone at this Academy rude or is it just me?"

As people passed by me, I heard whispers of gossip.

"Human."

AVA'S POV

They said, as they looked at me with disgusts. There's something about Nightfall Academy that didn't sit right with me. And something is telling me this is just the beginning...
