DARKNESS



When I opened my eyes, all I saw were the nurses hurrying me into the emergency room. He was also being hurried in a gurney when I turned to glance around. Prior to my complete blackout. I could recall the nurses telling me "you're going to be okay".

Blackness—just plain blackness. When I awoke, the room was dark. walls that are straight. Not a single door. Nobody. There was no soul present. I shouted, "Can anyone hear me?" as I went around.Nothing. I sobbed as I collapsed to my knees in front of my face. After a little while, I noticed a brilliant light striking me.When I looked up, I saw a door. A door opened slightly. How in the world is that possible? From where did that door emerge? I'm not sure why, but I would much rather move toward the light than remain in the dark. I cautiously stood up and moved in the direction of the light. I was astounded by what I saw as I opened the door.

There were people. People were all over the area, like if I were in a tiny town. But how is this even possible? I instantly turned back, and the door vanished. I started walking down the road, looking around. It appears that everyone has been living here for a while. They are costumed from various times. Where the hell am I? I started heading toward the park. The park was the most gorgeous location I had ever seen. I felt as if I were in wonderland.Flowers were flowering and dazzling. The water was rich. The grass was freshly groomed and couldn't be greener. This site seemed wonderful. After a long walk, I decided to take a rest and relax on the bench as I closed my eyes.

"You're new aren't you?" The small girl inquired. "pardon?" I remarked as I opened my eyes and looked about, but I couldn't see her. She says, "I'm up here." I looked up and saw her dangling like a monkey from the statue behind me. I could not believe I had overlooked that statue. I stood up and backed up to have a better look at it. The statue was of an angel. "now, what on earth are you doing up there?" I said, smiling. "I honestly don't know, im just bored." She stated this while jumping down and performing a front flip. I clapped my hands."nicely done, did you do gymnastics?" I responded, "yes." "Yes, i did." She spoke cutely. I looked at her. She is a pretty cute looking girl. She had blue eyes and blond wavy hair in two pigtails. She has a unique birthmark on the side of her cheek. She wore blue overalls to match the color of her eyes and all-white New Balance shoes. She looked about ten years old. "You're a very pretty little girl!" I remarked. "Thank you, you're very pretty yourself." She returned the compliment. "Thank you." "What's your name?" I inquired. How about you? My name is Aurora. She uttered those words. That's a really lovely name. Although my name is Alakai, I go by Kai. I stated."Cool name." Is there any significance to it?She inquired. Yes, according to what my parents told me, it means to lead and guide. "How about you?" I said. "My name means light, according to my parents." She uttered those words. "That's really intriguing," I remarked. "Yes, I suppose so."She uttered those words.

"So, where are your parents?" I inquired out of curiosity. "They're in a different world." She said. "What do you mean by that?" I inquired. She took hold of my hand."Let's go for a walk." I followed her and replied, "Oh, okay, where are we going?" "Just for a stroll." She uttered those words. I said, "Okay, so what do you mean by that?" "My parents are not present." She uttered those words. "Exactly where are they?" I inquired. "Oh, I have to have ice cream!" She let out a scream. "Ice cream?" I asked. She bolted for the ice cream shop. Behind it stood a man. His hair was short and brown. He was dressed like he was from the 1990s, all white with a black bow."What can I get you, two beautiful women?"he uttered. Mmm…Please give me two Neapolitans. "Great choice, coming right up," she remarked. With delight, he said.He gives each of us a brand-new, triple-layered ice cream cone. "I've never seen ice cream so flawless and fresh in my life."I cried out. "You must be new, I'm Dan," the ice cream vendor stated with a smile. He extended his hand in an attempt to say hello. "Yes, she is." As she licked the ice cream, Aurora spoke. I shook his hand and said, "I'm Alakai, or Kai for short." "Kai, it's a pleasure to meet you. Enjoy the remainder of your day." He uttered those words. I replied, "Thank you, vice versa." "Come on!" exclaimed Aurora. "Now, where are we heading?" I licked part of my ice cream before saying that. "I'm just walking, I don't know." After consuming her second layer of ice cream, she said. I started to say, "Woah, slow down, hun. You're going to get a brain-" but was cut off."BRAIN FREEZE!" She held her head and screamed. "I told you! I laughed and remarked, "You're so funny." She chuckled."Thank God, it disappeared." I finished the first layer of my ice cream and remarked, "I have a question." "Ask away!" she exclaimed.

"How did you get that facial mark?" I inquired. "Oh, that's a rare birthmark." She uttered those words. I remarked, "I've never seen a birthmark that unique before." "Yeah, when I was in school, I used to get teased for it." She scowled. I said, "Well, that's not nice, but I think your birthmark is cool." "Thank you!" she said with a smile. Tell me, therefore, why do people always claim that I'm new?I asked. "Well, that's because you're a moron." She laughed."Well, what is this place? I don't understand." I inquired. "This location is secure." She uttered those words. "What do you mean by a safe place?" I inquired. "All right, do you recall asking me where my parents are?" She inquired. "Yes, I do. What about it?" I asked. "Well, when I say they're in a different world, I mean they're still alive." She uttered those words. My complexion turned pale and my body felt as frigid as thin ice. "So you're saying I'm...dead..?" I stammered. "Yes," she replied. I fainted.

"Will she be alright?" As I began to awaken, I heard Aurora's voice. I remarked, "I had the most bizarre dream." I Take a look at Aurora. Aurora laughs, "Nevermind, it wasn't a dream." I rubbed my head, "I'm glad you're okay!" Aurora whispered. Where am I?" I asked. Obviously, you're at the hospital."She uttered those words. "How did I arrive here? What took place?I inquired. "Well, I brought you here after you passed out."She uttered those words. "Oh, thank you," I replied. "You're welcome, but you know what?" With excitement, she said. "What?" I questioned. "The doctor has wonderful news for you! He will return at any moment. She uttered those words. I closed my eyes and lay down, saying, "Oh, okay."

After a few moments, the doctor eventually came into the room. "I apologize for keeping you ladies waiting, but today is unfortunately a full house." He uttered those words. Startled, I opened my eyes.He was an extremely handsome dude. He appeared to be about my age. He had green eyes, curly black hair, and a very attractive facial structure that complemented his figure, as seen by the fact that he works out at the gym nearly every day.

Before I started drooling or made it obvious, I had to stop staring. "Yes, it's alright." I replied

With a smile. I'm Dr. Mitchell, and you have a lovely smile," he said with a smile. He said. “Thank you; I'm Alakai, Kai for short." I blushed as I spoke. Aurora gives us both a scowl before saying, "Aww..are you blushing?'" I urge her to shut up after glancing at her. "Well, you have wonderful news for her," she said. "Well. Yes, I do. Let me quickly retrieve the documents from the front desk. He uttered those words. "All right," I said to Aurora as he left the room. "You like the doctor, huh?"She spoke aloud. "Would you please stop talking before he hears you?" I asked."Yeah, of course." She made a clown face. Here we are, so you're our new patient, I see," he said as he entered again. He uttered those words.

I glared and asked, "Can someone please tell me what on earth do they mean by im new?" They both gave me a scared look."Well, let me explain this to you: this is the safe place where people come when they die in the other world." as he clarified. "So I'm dead, is that what I'm hearing?" I asked. "I'm here to tell you that you're unique." He uttered those words. "What do you mean by different?" I said, perplexed. "You're not exactly dead, but you're still alive." He uttered those words. I questioned, "What is that supposed to mean?" It indicates that although your body is dead, your brain is still alive. Thus, your body is in a—" he started, but I cut him off. "Coma?" I asked. "Yes, coma," he replied. But how? How can I return? How did I end myself in a coma? I inquired. "It says here you were in a terrible car accident," he says while going over the documents. My mind began to race with all of the recollections. "I recall," I murmured."After that, you are free to leave." He grinned as he spoke. What? By what do you mean? "Free to go where?" I questioned, perplexed. "All you had to do was remember to return." He uttered those words. "Really?How can I return then? I inquired. He gestures to the dark-shining bathroom door. "Really? I had to return to the dark out of all places? I stated. "I mean, that's how you arrived here." He laughed. "I guess that's fair enough," I replied. "Aww, but you just arrived." Sadly, Aurora said. I gave her a look. She appeared to be on the verge of tears."Oh, I recognize Kiddo. However, I must leave. I really enjoyed spending time with you. I added, "In addition, this isn't a farewell; you'll see me again." "Really?" Her expression brightened. "Yes, without a doubt." She leaped into my arms and gave me a lovely, huge hug as I opened my arms for her. I'm grateful for everything I told her. "You're welcome," she replied. I stood up and made my way to the bathroom door. After giving them one more farewell glance from behind, I opened the door and stepped inside. Shadows. Just blackness.When I awoke from my coma, I gasped.
