Chapter One

45.46 B.N.E.

They stood with their backs to each other, feeling the usual sensation that touching the one their heart belonged to brought. They were surrounded by the armies of the dark, which loomed just outside the glow from the twin swords. The demons were eager for the taste of blood once again and heckled the two women to drop their swords.

They were the last ones in existence, and the only swords ever made from Sidus Aureum, before it too, had blinked out of existence leaving the sky dark and void of stars.

The two women were dressed simply with pieces of armor haphazardly strapped on. The metal was various kinds, as they had been picked up from their fallen comrades, and some were dented to the point where one couldn’t make out the designs anymore.

Under it, they wore rough woolen shirts and pants that were now torn and tattered from the assault. They both were of medium height with lean muscular bodies honed from battle and practice.

The first woman had long, curly, fiery red hair and glee from the fighting sparkled in her emerald, green eyes. She loved the thrill of battle and would never pass up a chance to prove her strength.

The second woman had straight, blonde hair that fell just passed her shoulders and her stormy blue grey eyes held a calm but quick intelligence. She surveyed their surroundings looking for a way to break the ranks of demons that had finally cornered them.

Outside the circle of the glow, the bodies of their people lay on the ground broken and spent, missing their souls that the dark had devoured. They were all that was left, and together, they knew there was no way they were going to win against the Hoard.

Reaching back, the blonde woman grabbed the free hand of the other and squeezed it. The pair knew they only had moments left, but they had agreed to go down with a fight, bringing as many of the ugly bastards with them as they could.

Present Day

Have you ever felt like you were searching for something? As if it was just out of reach, if only you could just find it, find them, and until you found them, you were lost in an endless, repetitive life that wouldn’t end until you had.

Most go their whole lives never finding what they are looking for. But then there are the others, the few like me, who know exactly who they’re looking for. The problem is, they don’t know that I exist. They are one of the few who have that searching feeling but will never know what it is, even when I stand right in front of them. They might never remember me, and it breaks my heart every time.

I was born Rosalynn Frightwyng Strom, and for the last five hundred millennia, I have wandered on this god forsaken earth in a maze of confusion. Now you might be thinking that the earth hasn’t been around for that long, and honestly, I don’t really care whether you believe me or not.

Your bibles and scientists only count the years since the new earth started, now I call my years as a child B.N.E. or Before New Earth. There was a time, when the darkness ruled the universe and demons walked the earth. It was the end as we had known it, but then out of the darkness there were two souls that held the last of the light in them. Together they had stood the test of time but were cursed when they fell.

How do I know this? I was one of them, and the other is the person I have been seeking since then.
